A URL Shortener or link shortener is a tool for making URLs easier to remember and type in. Ours is nburl.net.

How does this work?[edit | edit source]

nburl.net is a 1-to-1 redirect to our wiki.

Our Mediawiki instance will redirect anything dumped into the root path and see if there's a wiki page for it.

Changes we could make[edit | edit source]

Around the Noisebridge space are labels such as nburl.net/trash or nburl.net/sewing, which forward to pages on the wiki. By putting a short URL on equipment and objects in the space, we provide a way for people to look up more info.

Ideally, the short URL should lead to a wiki page with the following:

1. The instruction manual for this item, or any records related to it
2. Where to put the object when you are done with it
3. Any scheduling info related to this object, or if it is currently being used by someone else for a project
