The local chapter of American Red Cross will come out and give us a class at any time we want.  They promise 24x7 availability.  To me, this is appealing because their regularly scheduled classes start at 8 AM.  If you've ever thought about it, you want to get in on this.
So as it turns out, we have a friend (soon to be member?) who is qualified to certify us in first aid and CPR.  He's offered to teach the class whenever we want to schedule, and willing to do this on a donation basisI think this is a fabulous opportunity not only to spread around life-saving-type knowledge, but do so without having to deal with large institutional structures.

They give detailed information on the facilities that are required for the class.  We're going to have to come up with 600 sq. ft. of space, which I do not believe we have.  We need space to get down on the floor with the dummies. Was someone mentioning another space nearby who would be sympathetic to training activities?
So I think what we need to figure out now is when we'll have the class.  We already have the "3 minimum" he said he wanted to teach, and with the "donation" basis, I think a lot more will be interested.

How about we add to this list with 3 ranked preferred dates (1st 2nd 3rd choice).  They need to be at least 3 days in the future so as to give Michael the time he needs to prepare (best a week so we can get our act together).  I figure these would best be 2 separate times so we don't have to have that much commitment for each cert.

Sign up for interest in First aid and/or CPR.  First aid certification is good for 3 years, CPR is good for 1.  Certificate programs are not free.  I'm not sure what it will cost to have it on site at Noisebridge, but it's $60/class ($110 for 2?) if you sign up for scheduled classes, so keep that in mind.

If we get enough interest, all the stuff we need is on the Red Cross [http://www.bayarea-redcross.org/training/workplace.htm workplace training website]
Oh, and since you're thinking about it, you may as well run through the free online [http://www.bayarea-redcross.org/pba/index.htm Emergency preparedness] training.  They also do this onsite for free for groups of 25 or more.

So as it turns out, we have a friend (soon to be member?) who is qualified to certify us in first aid and CPR. He's offered to teach the class whenever we want to schedule, and willing to do this on a donation basis. I think this is a fabulous opportunity not only to spread around life-saving-type knowledge, but do so without having to deal with large institutional structures.
