This consensus proposal describes the plan for hiring Scandiuzzi and Krebs (S|K).

Summary

The risk-reward trade off for investing in the fundraising plan with S|K is attractive given the expected payoff vs the cost. Given NB has increased monthly recurring donations, and has been gifted a significant sum, the impact of the cost to NB's finances will still leave significant headroom to attempt to recover any cost which is not recouped during the fundraising campaign, and still NB will have plenty of cash on hand to maintain housing.

Background

Noisebridge worked with S|K to form a fundraising plan with the goal of purchasing a building. This plan (Proposal) can be found here:File:SK plan.pdf and a list of recommendations here: File:SK recommendations.pdf

Noisebridge has formed a fundraising working group to distribute and execute these tasks.

Proposal

Working backwards form the current timeline, as indicated in the tracker, Noisebridge has less than a year to complete the process of purchasing a building. This includes finding a suitable building, putting in offers, accepting an offer, and any time associated with closing. Any raised funds need for the purchase will need to be in Noisebridge accounts approximately 1-2 months before this time. This leaves 10 months maximum to raise the desired amount to purchase, which is expected to be in the single-digit millions.

Spending the money to fully engage S|K based on their plan will cost just about $22,000. While this is a large sum, S|K is expected to raise much more than this amount, and specifically help in raising the millions needed to purchase the building in the best case scenario, a scenario they believe is likely.

The worst case scenario is that Noisebridge is not able to cover the $22,000. Compared to the beginning of the year, Noisebridge has already successfully raised more than this amount, though of course expenses were raised as well with the new rent. Just by working together, for not very long, prehaps a concentrated effort over 2 months, monthly donations rose significantly.

On top of the increase in Monthly recurring donations, Noisebridge has been gifted a very significant amount very recently, which nearly doubles the current balance and provides a significant amount of time to recover the spend $22,000 if necessary.

While Noisebridge is off to a slower start, there is more than sufficient time to stay on the original plan listed in the Proposal document.

Without being alarmist, it should be clear that time is a resource we cannot get back, and the more time we have to execute any plan, specifically this one, gives a better chance at yielding a positive outcome.

Consensus wording

S|K will be hired at the amount listed in the campaign proposal.
