Pre-Amble[edit | edit source]

Excellence[edit | edit source]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

(What does that mean? How does the Anti-Harassment Policy fit into this? Are we SURE we know what being Excellent is? This is an important and fundamental conversation at Noisebridge, so let's give it like 120 seconds.)

David- Noisebridge is a collarbarition space, and has one rule to be exelent to eachother

Dan-we enforce a strict anti harassment policy, we do not tolorate any discrimination of any form, or any personal attacks. People should feel enabled to call out problems.

Participation[edit | edit source]

Everyone at Noisebridge is a participant at Noisebridge.

(What does that mean? How do you get a door key? Access to Slack, Discuss, etc?)

Guilds Definition[edit | edit source]

Guilds are how groups at noisebridge organize.

(What is a guild? How do you join one? etc)

Look at the wiki.

Philanthropist definition[edit | edit source]

A Philanthropist at Noisebridge has earned enough trust from the community to open and close the space.

(What does that mean? What do we expect from Philanthropists? How do you become one? etc)

Ryan- Donate money to help the space, gain responsibility, gain access. You need to be trusted, must be sponsored by one Big M member.

Membership Definition[edit | edit source]

Membership in Noisebridge entails community Trust in Consensus.

(What does that mean? What do we expect from Members? How do you become a Member? etc)

Ryan- The most trusted buurocratic level of noisebridge, You need to go through a 4 week process. Only thing different then philanthropist is the ability to block a Big C Concensus item. You have a lot more responibility to care for the space.

Consensus[edit | edit source]

Consensus is how the Noisebridge Membership may change how Noisebridge works.

(How does Consensus work? What types of things are good for formal Consensus? What is small-c consensus? What is a "block"?)

Discussion[edit | edit source]

How to bring more people to noisebridge curcuit hacking teaching plan chiori grants!! buildout Social media

Discussion Item 0[edit | edit source]

How to bring more people to noisebridge, meeting, classes, in space, digital

Robot- how do we get people to the meetings. How do we make meetings more fun (less pain more pleasurable)

Pyconaut- Do classes with teacher in space, while class is online.

Dan- Meetings are an aquired taste, online made me rejoin the meetings. I enjoy the diverse communication style, it can be hard to get used to.

David- I want to hack, but it is really importaint, we should ppush for it. We need after meeting activities.

Rikke- When I have enough headspace and energy I show up, when I dont I don't participate..

Victor- I come to meeting to see what decision are being made, and what I can help with. and what is happening, it keeps me up to date.

David-- I come to mmmeting right now because I want to help it move, and need to be up to date, and to make sure it is still there. Students should be a main demographic. Many in the bay do not know that it is even possible for a place like this to exist.

Pyconaut- We need to break up the meeting so people only feel like they need to show up for 30 minutes, not 2 hours.

Robot- I like the 30 minute idea, and the 90 seconds length of taking, make people feel like the meeting is faster, and more organised.

Dan- it can be hhard to reel it in , and can be hard to listen as well. Everyone has an attentio span, and it can be very challenging to be diliigent about staying short. Also can feel aquard to point it out to others without making them feel stressed, embarrased, angry. What can we do to practice. There are people who feel uncomfortable stopping or speaking fast.

Pyconaut- comments can be broken up into smaller walls of text, I am actually trying it right no

X- 5 mof will happen in october- and it can be good help for practicing short streams of conciousness. Also it brings people online

Dan- 5 mof is grreat.

Robot- we have discussed this enough here, and seen how stressful it is. Can we add a joke break into meetings.

Dan- Lets test it out more. and discuss it offline.

Discussion Item 1[edit | edit source]

curcuit hacking teaching plan

Robert- Wants to do curcit hacking monday

Only has 1.5 people per month, and people who want to do curcit hacking want to do stuff in person, SO will build kits and diliver them to an education pod in SF, then teach them online while they fallow along with the kits.

Robot- needs ideas of who he should target for these kits. These are breadboard kits. I think people above 8.

David- What are the kits like for learning.

Robot- Problem is breadboard has thheir own learning curve. Need to streamline learning.

Robot- How do I find kids who want to learn?

Pyconaut- I think high school people would be the easiest to find right now.

Dan- What problems could happen?

Robot- People get hurt.

Dan- What example does this set, and what guidelines should we invent for this type of class. How will this be assciated with noisebriddge, and could it effect noisebridge in a dangerous way.

Robot- I could teach the teacher.

Dan- This will probably be ok, but guidelines will help make the connection to noisebridge safer. Are you representing noisebridge? Wn should discuss this further.

Robot- Starting a brand, how can I sepperate myself. I can then take on the risk instead of noisebridge.

David- how do we get more people

Pyconaut- branding and outreach, to schools.

Robot- In person was always cash positive. Could always get more kits.

Dan- how do we keep from stressing donations

Robot- I alway say "this class runs on donations, andy amount helps" and it always works.

Dan- How do we get mor online classes.

Robot- can we teach other stuff vertuilly.

Discussion Item 2[edit | edit source]

chiori

Dan- It is a vine, and want to grow it in back so we have a live plant in the space.

Pyconaut- I think it will need something bigger then a bucket.

Dan- If people have have a problem with it, they can ignore it as stuff usually dies at noisebridge. We need more plants.

Discussion Item 3[edit | edit source]

grants!!

Pyco-Please look for grants, they can be very helpful for noisebridge, and individuals in the space. There are a lot of grants if you look. And noisebridge, classes of noisebridge, and individuals of noisebridge should apply for them. Right now there are a lot of sustainability grants available this fall in varrying ammouunts. Everything from designing electric motors, urban agg, hydrogen systems, solar systems, battery systems. Pelease reach out to me on slack or discuss or the discord.

Discussion Item 4[edit | edit source]

buildout

Please come to noisebridge buildout planning on tuesdays from 6 to 7

Discussion Item 5[edit | edit source]

Social Media

David- why are we not using social media much. We only have 500 on facebook and who is the admin of the facebook page.

Pyconaut- it is our account, and all of our scoial media is tied together

Dan- Facebook is bad, and has many problems, and many people who are privacy concerned do not use it. Also why do we fell concerned about using facebook when they can sell our data, and our communities.

David- What othr ways can we reach out as we need outreach, are there alternitives.

Dan- can we rescue people from the facebook hole.

Victor- I don't use it, but people are on it, and we can use it to funnel those people to other systems.

X- getting his soldering iron.

Pyconaut- We can create crosspostting, and one proble is the actuall user of facebook who find noisebridge through it, "use" noisebridge more then they become a part of it. Twitter is more useful for our community.

Dan- We need to discuss it more and with more people offline.

Dan- We need quality over quantity in the people we draw to the space. Peope don't find noisebridge by accadent. Specal place needs spacial people.

Pyconaut- We need to void people who cause our spaceship problems. Often this can be startups, who treat noisebridge like a co-working space. We also need to reach out to places that have our core Values.

Dan- more offline

End of Meeting[edit | edit source]

X- What are people hacking on, and who wants to keep hacking after the meeting.

David- nerf guns

X- hacking jitsi and electromagnets

Pyconaut- Blender, VR, neurotech, need to actually start doing stuff again.

Robot- Bikes

Dan- Chickens, noisebridge
