DEF CON NYE[edit]

Announcement! DEF CON's first New Year's Eve Party! October 30, 2020, 21:37 December 31, 2020 through January 1, 2021

Let’s ring in the New Year together! We’re putting together a free online party for the global DEF CON Community. Join us on our Discord server (https://discord.gg/defcon/) for some low-key DC-style amusements like Hacker Jeopardy, Drunk Hacker History, live music, movies - you know how we do. No talks, no lines, plenty of hacker fellowship and shenanigans.

We’ll provide the tunes, the games and contests, even some ‘celebrity’ bartenders. You just bring your dancing shoes and the refreshments of your choice. https://forum.defcon.org/node/235543

Excellence[edit]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

(What does that mean? How does the Anti-Harassment Policy fit into this? Are we SURE we know what being Excellent is? This is an important and fundamental conversation at Noisebridge, so let's give it like 120 seconds.)

Read the wiki

Participation[edit]

Everyone at Noisebridge is a participant at Noisebridge.

(What does that mean? How do you get a door key? Access to Slack, Discuss, etc?)

Read the

Philanthropists[edit]

A Philanthropist at Noisebridge has earned enough trust from the community to open and close the space.

(What does that mean? What do we expect from Philanthropists? How do you become one? etc)

Membership Binder [edit]

Membership in Noisebridge entails community Trust in Consensus.

(What does that mean? What do we expect from Members? How do you become a Member? etc)

How's it all going

Consensus is how the Noisebridge Membership may change how Noisebridge works.

(How does Consensus work? What types of things are good for formal Consensus? What is small-c consensus? What is a "block"?)

Meeting notes

Dan meeting notes are hard, and inaccurate meeting notes can cause misconstrued Language that might not actually represent what was actually said. Also Editing notes after the fact can be difficult as well And cause issues.

Talking detected, no notes? notes resumed, most excellent volunteer'd do-ocracy!

Dan: Bad secretary in the old days caused issues when they changed The Outcome Of Concensus In notes. It was noticed By a distant noisebridger

Dan: Current secretary knows painful process, they'll figure something out. Dan: Possible solution: summarize important things in meetings, or summary of previous meeting in next meeting notes. Might compound on itself. Meetings are best understood by attendees, although online is distracting.

Pyconaut- I have Had A few people offer to take our notes and make a weekly summary. Does this person need to be at the meeting to create The Summary?

J - what's going on? Hi, I'm J, I'm jack of all trades, master of none, but better than none.

Dan - (summarizes what's been happening) Dan reading last weeks concensus item To those who haven't heard it.

Jay- are people at least checking on the space

Dan-yes but not often

If something needs to be done, we will do it, but most stuff has been stopped.

Dan- stuff that will need to be done is paperwork for city, improved ventilation, better outdoor space.

Noisebridge still hasn't started lease occupancy, is closed, and not having to pay rent with current COVID-19 restrictions.

Jay, what is unicorn status? How is our streaming doing (is it on unicorn?)

https://www.noisebridge.net/Unicorn

noise.tube coming soon?

Jay- we need to improve our virtual classes and events.

Dan- noisebridge discuss is a better place for that info then slack.

Also it is safer since we control it.

Jay is interested in doing the abelton classes online.

Tj the computer at the back of the music room has abelton on it if you need it.

Dan when will we having moving telepresence robots in Noisebridge as robots havent been getting covid and can meet with each other.
