Excellence

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

(What does that mean? How does the Anti-Harassment Policy fit into this? Are we SURE we know what being Excellent is? This is an important and fundamental conversation at Noisebridge, so let's give it like 120 seconds.)

original item from draft

} Broklii- How closed is noisebrige right now Dan- Very few people have keys as they are Noisebridge is closed in all normal hacking aspects, if someone needs to access the space for a lagitimit reason they can figure out who has keys to help them. Broklii- is it time to reconfirm the 4th item from the concensus item from Nov 17th, 2020. Were these restrictions exspired like in the concensus items Dan- We small c concensused the continuation of that item. Mark- What about modifiying them, like the 3 people upstaire and 3 downstairs. and 3 households total. Dan- Those still apply as even though the city allows buisnesses LXPK- What about having people using vaccine passports (CDC vaccine documents). Many countries are already doing this. Do people think this is viable Pyconaut- I think that is a good idea (any event I plan to host at noise) Mark- I think that is a good idea LXPK. But we also need to monitor capacity in some way. We need to keep count very well. Also maybe have more specific hours and not 24 hours until we can move to 100% capancity. We would need to have volunteer shifts for people so that we can control said hours. I think the consensus item needs to need a minimal description of a capacity monitoring system in order to be a good consensus item. Pyconaut- VHS has a system like that that updates on their website, and a phisical ticker box in the space. Mark - Automation is good and all. But we still need people to watch. Dan- I have a few ideas about the babysitter issue of having a responsible noisebridger watching the space and checking all the people that come into the space. It is better to have two people, as a single person taking care of noisebridge is really hard, it is good to have backup, and accountability. Don't underestimate the amount of attention required. HAVE A BUDDY. LXPK- also allows better testimony if things go wrong, especially when issues happen. LXPK- So we could ammend the consensus item to add the following: For Noisebridge to comply with San Francisco pandemic guidelines, several steps need to be taken. We can monitor the number of people on the premises to stay below the City's capacity limitations and our internally determined current allowed number of people upstairs and downstairs according to space and ventilation allowances. Whomever opens Noisebridge should keep a log of hours opened and numbers of persons and times entering and exiting the space to document that we comply with city guidelines. Best practices for those keeping watch on the space will be established at meetings and be updated according to conditions. There may be additional steps necessary to maintain safety and compliance which will be re-evaluated according to health agency guidance. Pyconaut- more then just following City and State guidelines, I think we need to have our own guidelines that refrence the current the state of the mission which has much higher case count then the rest of SF (if The mission was a city, it would be red or purple teir, not SF Oarnge). Dan- Mission is nbuts Mark- We need to make sure to have good logs that show that we are following gudelines (hours open, people in space). Dan- I think the People watch the space can be done by small c concensus. Pyconaut- what about the specifics of the city guidelines and if we can even comply with them enough to open (veltilation, clenliness, etc). Dan- It is hard to get people to read the guidelines, as to understand your position in the current system you need to read them. Dan- The documents we need to make for this so that we can fall into general city compliance is the next real step. Until those items are filled out, we will not be able to open. The longer we wait the less documents/compliance regulation we might need. Maybe move our moving date in the consensus item from when it passes, to june sometime. Pyconaut- Buildout makes opening much harder (can we even be open while they are doing construction in the space). Dan- Maybe prepare for partial opening, where we can close down for a few week when we have construction. Pyconaut: Adding construction time where NB will be closed to work on it as part of the re-opening consensus item might be good. When I get vaccinated, if Mission calms down more, I'll go to NB more often and volunteer space-watch esp. if I can find a buddy to help keep watch. I think it would be good if space watchers are vaccinated. At some point, I don't know if it will be the fall or next winter, but we're going to be probably opening up to people who might not be vaccinated and if we're turning people away just because they're not vaccinated that could be seen as un-excellent. But for right now, for the safety of community, vaccination is something we should consider. Don't know if trust is right word for what I think about vaccines in our conmmunity. LXPK- Making sure peole helping with construction are vaccinated could be useful as it could be considered a health safety risk. And putting noisebridgers at risk is unexellent. We should not ban non vaccinated, but it is easier to consuder people who are, espicially if you need to work in a big group. Dan- If I want to get someone to help in the space, I make sure that the space is what I consider safe, and that these people will not have to worry about random tourists, or guests that are not their for helping the space. LXPK- This resolutions goal should be squarely aimed at people who are coming to noisebridge to help buildout, and to keep them safe. Not for general happy noisebridge hacking open time. Dan- How should we do this open (we are opening in june or july, or we are now open for buildout, or both, or buildout opening happens in june). We are trying to grow a community of responsibility, and adaptibility for this. LXPK- What about the three upstairs three downstairs. Pyconaut- Maybe just do the three husehold thing Dan- that does seem better. LXPK- Maybe we can adapt it so that fully vaccinated people who have keys can go in on top of thoseof three households. We also need a way for old keyholders (Big M members, philanthropists), to ask for keys if they are vaccinated. Dan- So if I dont have a key and I want to help build out how do I find out where to get involved in buildout. LXPK- Discuss is a good comon denominator as it is a open forum, and can crosspost to slack. Pyconaut- and soon discord if I actually spend the time to do the work. Dan- Managability is hard even with 6 people right now. The majic number is hard. Having a min or max might not really work (people may or may not listen). LXPK- also having to many people even if vaccinated can become unmanagable. Dan- Upstairs seems a lot harder to amnage then downstairs. 2 upstairs, 4 doownstairs, and maybe 3 outside (though mission). Dan- Blockchain Vaccine passport. LXPK- Thinking about after construction, is finished what would our restrictions be (vaccinated general access?, etc, ... ) Mark- Lets move this discussion to discuss as it is late. LXPK- We have a lot of ideas and a start to a well writen item, please bring others into this discussion. NEED MORE EYEBALLS.

Discussion

Discussion Item 1

LXPK - Vaccine Passports as tool for safe re-opening: https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2021-04-05/vaccine-passports-key-to-reopening-society https://abc7news.com/coronavirus-vaccine-passport-airports-california/10482282/ Hackaday did an article about it from a hacker perspective: https://hackaday.com/2021/02/01/this-isnt-your-fathers-yellow-card/ https://www.theverge.com/2021/1/14/22231187/microsoft-salesforce-oracle-digital-vaccination-records We already have hacker passports for fun. Could we make vaccine documentation a tool for a safer path for re-opening Noisebridge and other hackerspaces with the least risk?
