Financial Report[edit | edit source]
Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.
- Funds in bank:
- Noisetor (See the bulletpoints at the bottom of http://noisetor.net/finances/#summary):
- Any other details by those participating in handling our financials
- The latest financial reports from the treasurer are available at https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Finances
- Tyler:
- Cash: $298,270.38
- Crypto: $126,169.60
- Total: $424,439.98
More philanthropists starting donations lately which helps offset increased rent at our new space. We're paying roughly $9000/month rent plus $1000+ uitils on average so around $10K/month so anything we do to donate is awesome and it is a legit 501c3 and whatever you donate can be written off taxes.
If you don't have piles of cash and you host events, that helps bring people in who donate.
- LX: It would be good to have a space improvement fund to get stuff ready for NB14 and beyond such as better signage, gate improvements, noiseblocking blankets.
- Tyler: Gate is an important one and we've had this fund before and not spent it. It would be nice to have estimates of roughly how much to spend.
- LX: It would be good to do an allocation with the expedited process.
- Tyler: We already do seem to like Liz did with bringing in electrician. Maybe if we're trying to do stuff before April spend first reimburse later. Or swipe the card and see the damage at the end.
Spending Needs[edit | edit source]
Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.
Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]
How's it all going
Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]
Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if people ask
Consensus Items [edit | edit source]
Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.
Discussion[edit | edit source]
Discussion Item 1[edit | edit source]
Building a sound barrier between the wood shop and the hackitorium.
- LX: Ideally it would go as close to the ceiling as possible without interfering with sprinklers. It would consist of many layers of moving blankets for maximum absorption and lowest cost.
- Tyler: Is this the best way vs a regular wall?
- LX: It is the goal to have it walled but if we do make a permanent wall the blankets will still improve the sound absorption of any wall as a single wall may still not totally absorb sound from such loud machines and it is common to add blankets to walls. So since a wall is likely going to take a while to finish, a blanket now willl add to the future wall's db reduction power and be ready much sooner hopefully.
- Tyler: Are we going to hang them?
- LX: Yeah.
- Tyler: A giant blanket fort.
- LX: Basically, like a big stage curtain. And it may be that stage curtains or something like those are almost literally what we have to look for the size and mounting.
- Tyler: Can we get one?
- LX: Hopefully! It is a good way to find out if we want to put the perm wall in the same spot.
- Tyler: $746 for a 12"x8" one.
- LX: Moving blankets tend to be the best bang for buck for db.
- Tyler: It could have a stage curtain look.
- Tyler: It could be a cheap thin pretty stage curtain with thick moving blankets behind it.
- LX: Yes goal is to pick something by next week worth getting. It might also mount on wheels.
- Tyler: 18' high ceiling... With 1000lb wood to hang curtains from. Bolting a wire to sides of wall like a giant shower curtain probably the best way.
- LX: The idea seems sound, no pun intended.
- Tyler: I drew a paint drawing. IHooks in the ceiling to prevent drooping. Board up on ceiling. Tied into right there. Points of contact hanging carpet/curtain from that.
- LX: I've created a wiki page for the NoiseCurtain project for anyone to collaborate on its design and execution: https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/NoiseCurtain
Discussion Item 2[edit | edit source]
Cloud: Lighting? Did we figure out a lighting project. Koch light?
- LX: I'm interested in seeing more LED colored lighting and projectors for projection mapping.
- Tyler: Do we have about 6?
- LX: I'll have to check!
- Cloud: There has been talk about making the downstairs less dark and warehousey.
- LX: Yes having more types of lighting is good to give us options.
- Cloud: People at biohacking hackathon were cold and went home because they didn't feel that welcomed when it got cold. Downstairs.
- LX: Upstairs is warmer by default currently.
Discussion Item 3[edit | edit source]
Mario: We could have an air curtain to keep heat from leaving like they have at many stores.
- 36" air curtains to blow air on the front door are 200-300$.
- Could the roll up door have one?
- 59" $309 https://www.amazon.com/VBENLEM-Commercial-Certified-Easy-Install-Unheated/dp/B08KP4GMTG/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=Air+Curtains&qid=1646800431&sr=8-6
- 72" $800 https://www.amazon.com/Awoco-Elegant-Commercial-Certified-Unheated/dp/B08B7KF3DC/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3RNCZNZTPDH04&keywords=air+curtain+120"&qid=1646801144&sprefix=air+curtain+120+%2Caps%2C239&sr=8-4
Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]
Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
