Next Meeting

Note-takers: Elan

Moderators: Loren / mcint.

NOTE: Consider turning off fridge for the duration of the meeting. It is very loud and sometimes prevents people on video conference from hearing those in the space.

  • One or two bullet points of high-level meeting summary.

Short announcements and events[edit | edit source]

Examples to delete and replace with actual announcements

  • Extra Lives events on Thursday (7-9pm)
  • Electronics DM (930pm - ?)

Excellence[edit | edit source]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

Examples of Excellence

  • Chris: new member, started cleaning up and reorganize music room unprompted.

Guilds[edit | edit source]

Wood Guild[edit | edit source]

Met for the first time! Made decisions!

New Members/Associate Members[edit | edit source]

What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.

  • Jordan/Fuchsia, applying for Associate Membership. Looking to start leatherworking as part of the sewing/fabrics guild. Also interested in the music, esp interested in jam sessions.
  • Ken Gatz, applying for Associate Membership. Hoping to do a lot of sewing and organizing the shop

Financial Report[edit | edit source]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

  • Losts 5k in February
  • ~9k in rent
  • 1.5k in utilities including trash

Spending Needs[edit | edit source]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

Trash[edit | edit source]

Fence[edit | edit source]

Spent ~$200 will likely spend an additional $100 on

Resealing bathroom floor[edit | edit source]

Will probably cost a ~200

Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]

How's it all going

Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if people ask.

Consensus Items [edit | edit source]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

Affirmation of No Smoking policy (and what about vaping?)[edit | edit source]

"If you're going to smoke, smoke downstairs on the sidewalk, away from our doorway. This includes all substances, including tobacco and marijuana. Do not smoke on the fire escape -- it affects everyone in the space, plus the ash falls down onto the fruit below, and the fire service gets mad at us."

Working group to clean-up our documentation[edit | edit source]

Cleanup/consolidate Noisebridge documentation: decades of info, channels, archives. We have a rainforest, we want a garden.

Better landing page for people interested.

Michelle would be interested in participating.

Discussion[edit | edit source]

Trash woes[edit | edit source]

Woodshop waste—compost? No, not wood scraps nor sawdust Compost is the right for cardboard, pizza boxes.

We could use signs for this

Temperatures[edit | edit source]

Space heaters on with windows open at the same time.

Should keep doors/windows closed when its cold.

Is Noisebridge policy on smoking absolute?[edit | edit source]

Is it really a concesus? - Yes. - It also goes against our lease (wait maybe jk would need to check). Landlord would have right to raise rent if we flaunt this rule.

Kids are also often present.

California law also prohibits this is businesses.

Noisebridge does not endorse illegal activity.

Is there a camp that says smoking indoors should be allowed? - Was planned as a proposed consensus item but seems unnecessary as someone brought up it is already policy.

No smoking in the space is already NB policy.

Since there is no proponent for smoking in the space we'll table till next week.

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!

Kudos[edit | edit source]

  • Mark/Matt - building/painting front fence
  • Joyce - designed Noisebridge mural for front fence
  • Alaina - installed industrial motor in sewing machine
  • Jay - painted bathroom

Todos[edit | edit source]

  • Ken - organize woodshop
  • Nemo - unsticking organization of metalshop
  • John - Putting up parking tickets on hackshelf. Will remove once they are expired. Reaching out to Steve across the street for maybe doing a mural for the front fence.
  • Loren - getting one more trashcan, disource forum

  • Clean and tidy the meeting notes including removing all these really verbose instructions.
  • Fill out the short summary at the top listing just announcements, consensus items, discussion topics, and names of new members and philanthropists.
  • Copy paste the notes to the next meeting page. (They will become Last meeting at midnight.)
  • Email the meeting summary to Noisebridge Discuss and Noisebridge Announce lists.
  • CC on the email and if there are new members and philanthropists.
  • Edit the Current Consensus Items if anything is proposed for consensus next week.
  • Edit the Consensus Items History if anything was reached consensus or failed to reach consensus this week.

Fun things to do after[edit | edit source]

  • Do a 10 minute cleanup, bring dishes up stairs and wash them, clean the bathroom
  • Have some beers on the patio
  • Prepare the next weeks' meeting notes
  • Lick the walls. Or just draw on them
  • sing the Hackernationale (this almost never happens)
