Excellence[edit | edit source]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (Give a quick, 1-3 sentence summary.) - Anarchist. Consensus rules. - No rulers Izzy - excellence is when people allow themselves to be free, which allows others to be free as well. None of us are free until we all are. Dave - do unto others.

What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit | edit source]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.

Brief Kudos[edit | edit source]

Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.

Chris took some time out to help a stranger with soldering!

Elle: In the sewing lounge - folks who did the folding - aaron, mary, miriam, spent hours organizing donated fabrics.

Danny brought some folks interested in investing on a most excellent tour.

All the students for the sewing class this week were super appreciateive, patient and nice!

Vikram - izzy has been super helpful to get me up to speed around the space

Moof - being vigilant about fire extinguishers, getting them fixed up (inspected).

Izzy - shoutout to loren, generally

Loren - 4 or 5 ppl who helped me take out trash last night, izzy and some new visitors.

Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items

Consensus Items [edit | edit source]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item or can be reserved for the discussion section of the meeting.

Membership[edit | edit source]

Memembership program - take on more responsibility and recurring donation Needs to be referred by a full member not an associate member Donate! New member application

  • Maku - apply for associate membership. Sponsor Ken.
    • Why do you want to be a member? I came in during the reboot, no one asked why I wanted to.

Have conversations I can't really have many other places. Sense of community. Chance to influence, pride in building out the space. Contributing to a cause greater than myself, to the community.

    • Are you sometimes able to come in earlier? Not during the week, on weekends, I could open.
    • Interested in hosting events? Not allowed to do that, agreement with company, can't teach.
    • (Elle - had a similar clause previously -- is it possible you could be allowed to, outside your work area?) Would have to ask, but without permissions I have a clear interpretation I'm following.
    • No objections. Mical is a new associate!
  • Avaer - applying for associate, sponsor: LX

Tell us about yourself. Love the culture here, open source contributor for that last 15 years. Spent a lot of time here last year. I want to promote the rule of excellence. Used to be a wikipedia admin. Want to be able to open and close at will. Be a visible volunteer/leader.

LX - he contributes well & extensively to another

    • No objections. Avaer is a new associate!
  • Izzy seeks sponsorship.

Mark says: let's talk more later. Moof is curious, wants to listen in (or take part).

Discussion Items[edit | edit source]

It is recommended to post items for discussion ahead of time at https://pad.riseup.net/p/nbmeeting. (Check that the template for the meeting is in place already, and that last week's notes have been moved to the wiki, of course)

Item prompts should follow the format: From/Raised by: [your name here] Seeking [decision/outcome/advice/something else] On topic: [topic]

Discussion Item 1[edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Elle (& LX) Seeking: clarity On topic: NB16 party

Some months ago, we presented a plan for a fashion show, party and gala, for the 15th anniversary. 3 different events. It included a pop-up that we didnt get the funding for. There were a lot more ppl involved in the plan, many fewer ppl now. None of the main movers except for myself are still around.

(Loren - correction 16th event. Last year was 15 years since Oct 1, 2008.)

https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/NB15

  • WHEN: October 1 2023 or nearabouts according to the Oral_histories of founding 83C Oct 1 in 2008.

LX: I'm back and available to help.

Elle: Great! Filed a grant application with Stellar foundation. Talked to them today - said they couldn't give us a grant but could perhaps make a contract with me as a "party planner". Means I would be committing to doing this thing.

1. Was gonna be June 22nd, but that wont work for me. Thinking maybe the following weekend potentially? Is a saturday or a friday good?

LX - 22nd is a hard block for me, I hope we could do the week after or later.

Elle: Putting it later could behoove us for a # of reasons. Permits, portapotty for increased.

2. We talked about what kind of entertainment to provide. We definitely could still do the fashion show - we def have enough ppl who could produce a item or two.

EHR: Can we add BBL Drizzy to the party playlist?

If you contribute to the party, sure!

Angela, speaking about Stellar Foundation (cryptocurrency XLM), history. Started by one of the co-founders of Ripple (cryptocurrency XRP), because there were disagreements about the misison of Ripple. Deep focus on mission of banking the unbanked. Have experience in porting blockchains.

Let focus on the shared mission.

Theme/activities for the party?

Izzy, wants to live code music. LX -- laserbridge previously.
Elle: Noisebridge store? Tshirts, sticker, other paraphernalia
We do already have a detailed plan of sorts for the party. Perhaps we should have a separate meeting and discuss adding/removing things.
Moof - can you set a date and time for that meeting.
Elle - one last thing - we should check with Stellar and see what requirements they have?

#nb16 in discord. Tonight, a time will be suggested there for the next meeting.

Things to show at a party. fashion show: Ken, Elle, Shek. Elle - incorporating something that incorporates light.
LX - techwear fashion community.

Other things to show off

Vikram - a smart weeding robot.
spacebridge projects?

Discussion Item 2[edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: moof Seeking update On topic: on fire safety: fire extinguishers, power delivery. Inspector coming, Thursday morning at 9.

Power distribution -- electrical.

Moof talked to Ken. Said standard power for outlet is 15amp. Maybe if we get a circuit breaker with 15a resettable fuse we dont need to worry about overdrawing?

Main concern is music and sewing rooms have only 1 outlet and a bunch of power strips. Need to check for bad ones and remove.

Mark will loop Ken in on the conversation with the electrician to see if he (Ken) could/would rather do the work. (Mark's not sure what permits/licensing might be required/etc...)

Loren - electronically controlled light switches would be nice

  • Electronically switched lights -- as we improve electrical circuits it's the right time to improve these.

Elle - Wyatt has proposed similar. Talked about it, at a meeting, a few weeks ago, and on discord.

Loren creating a thread in working-group-forum in discord for further discussion.

  • (Seeking volunteers) with LX. Put up posters.
  • NB Wiki accounts -- go to homepage and "Request Account" in the upper right corner. Talk to Loren or Mark.
