No sleeping at Noisebridge. There is broad consensus that living at Noisebridge or sleeping overnight is not excellent. That means you should just not do it. Noisebridge is a place for hacking on creative uses of technology, materials, and/or consumables; not somewhere to live or crash out at.

WHY?: Our lease prohibits people from living here, and people living at Noisebridge reduce its utility for those who want to hack.

ASKING NOT TO SLEEP: If you are sleeping at Noisebridge, anyone else present in the space has the complete right to ask you to wake up and hack or else request that you leave.

  • You may report people found sleeping at Noisebridge on the Rooster Brigade log.
  • If you are asked to wake or leave, Do not argue, be rude, or go back to sleep.
  • If someone refuses to wake or leave voluntarily, remind them of our Ask to leave policy.
  • If someone refuses ask to leave, remind them that it may result in losing access to the space and report it at a meeting.

Noisebridge is not your home, it is your hackspace[edit | edit source]

Asking Not To Sleep[edit | edit source]

If you are sleeping at Noisebridge, anyone else present in the space has the complete right to ask you to wake up and hack or else request that you leave.

  • As a community, we agree that it is not acceptable to argue, to be rude, or to go back to sleep after someone has asked that you either wake up and hack or else leave.
  • If you fail to wake up and hack or leave when asked, you should expect to have your behavior discussed at a community meeting, and you could subject yourself to becoming permanently banned by consensus from the space.
  • Unfortunately, there have been notorious instances of this happening in the past for persons who have chosen to exhibit this type of behaviour.

People who sleep at Noisebridge may find themselves awakened by the Rooster Brigade or spontaneous renditions of the Hackernationale

Resources instead of living at Noisebridge[edit | edit source]

The nature of creative work means it doesn't always pan out financially. This is pretty serious in San Francisco due to its high cost of living. Noisebridge offers a list of resources for starving hackers, both on dead trees in meatspace and on this wiki.
