Noisebridge is a space for sharing, creation, collaboration, research, development, mentoring, and of course, learning. Come visit, work, and use our equipment free (but please donate when you can!)

Noisebridge is also more than a physical space; it's a community with roots extending around the world.

Upgrade / Reboot

Noisebridge status: Open but Under Construction.

NB Reboot 2014 SSclip.png

We're raising $25K for our parts and labor expenditures! Help us out at our IndieGoGo fundraising campaign page.
With our "soft reopening" upon us and 3 1/2 weeks left in our IndieGoGo campaign, we're NEARLY HALFWAY THERE, YIPEE!
C'mon now everyone... let's dig deeper to donate!!

The Reboot schedule:

  • July 1st: "hard close" - major cleanout of the space (necessary to allow all electrical work to be done)
  • August 1st: "soft reopening" - work will still be in progress, but guests will be allowed.
  • August 9th to 15th: Class-A-Thon Week! A full week of special Noisebridge donation-encouraging classes and workshops leading up to...
  • August 15th: Grand Reopening and Kickass Fundraising Party to benefit the Noisebridge Reboot.

Further details can be found in this announcement message.

Volunteer Labor Needed!

Contact Naomi: pnaomi at gmail DOT com / @nthmost on Twitter.

Current needs:
  • Painting and patching the walls.
  • Refinishing the floors <-- (most of the work)
  • Building the missing top parts of walls.
  • Moving large quantities of stuff from one part of the space to the other.
  • Cleaning in ways Noisebridge has never been cleaned (e.g. the server room)
  • Graphic, photo, and web layout editing for this wiki you are reading right now.
An hour, a few hours, lots of hours -- however much time you would like to add.
We'd be especially mega grateful for those of you who could spare daytime hours!

Note that while Noisebridge is officially closed for the rest of the month for critical cleanups and retrofits, our associated hackerspace in Oakland, Sudo Room, has already relocated to its new Omni Oakland Collective location and is now open. Please see Sudo Room's Discuss list and Announce list postings for further status on this local hackerspace alternative available during our July closure.

Status

Noisebridge is at its lowest grassroots stage, runlevel 2.
The space is open only for repairs, updates, retrofits, etc.

We began building Noisebridge in February 2007. Since December 2007 we've had regular Tuesday meetings, and rented our first physical space as of October 1st 2008. We quickly outgrew our first space and have been at our much larger 5,200 square-foot second location since October 1st 2009. We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization as of July 2009, retroactive to October 2008.
