This page is for the yellow remote-controlled airplane at noisebridge. This plane is visible in the top right of the picture of 83c Wiese noisebridge, three years ago. It's about time someone does something with it other than pilfer parts. If you have parts for this thing, bring them on.
current status
the plane is taken apart somewhat, it still has a hole in the wing and a broken rib, but it looks like all it needs is some tape over the hole and don't worry about the broken rib. There are a lot of spare parts including several extra front props and a spare engine, which appears to be brand new.
jake and evan took out the batteries and are making a new pack for the plane out of some non-dead rechargables.
The remote needs about 9.6 volts rechargable pack, and we need dedicated chargers for the plane and remote, preferably powered by the lead-acid 12v battery in the toolbox / stand.
The toolbox stand has a non-dead 12v lead-acid gel-cell battery in it now, and a wall-wart trickle charger made by evan.
The servo that mounts on the wing, and makes the ailerons move, was removed by someone and the bracket for it is in a bag. There is another servo there to replace it, but it doesn't have the right pulley mounted on its output shaft, and it's not mounted in the wing.

next steps
- someone will have to take the engine apart a little bit and loosen things up, and oil things. The throttle servo linkage moves but it doesn't actually make the throttle thing open and close. If it can't be fixed, there is that spare engine, which looks brand new...
- the wings need a little bit of repair, basically elmers-glue a new piece of balsawood (or the old piece, still floating around) in there, and then tape over the holes in the skin. With noisebridge stickers.
- the remote control needs a battery pack, and a charger circuits, preferably from the 12v circuit in the toolbox/stand. The plane has a battery now, made by evan, and a charger, made by evan. don't lose them.
- the tailfin/steering servo needs adjusted, probably take the pulley off the servo and re-mount it so that it's more centered. Right now you have to trim the remote all the way to the right in order to get even close to centered.
- fuel needs to be put in the fuel tank and the engine needs to get running. This is an outdoor activity, especially the starting of the engine or attempt thereof. fortunately the toolbox/stand has a good battery in it and the starter motor and glow plug connector seems to all be in good condition.
- the plane's receiving antenna (usually just a wire inside a stiff plastic tube) may be missing, or well-concealed. flying without a receiving antenna would be stupid. also the remote control should get "tweaked" for more transmit power. lots more power.
- cameras - we need cameras!
