=Philanthropist Pledge=
One or more [[Member|Members]] believes in you to be excellent at Noisebridge and to contribute enough to continue that excellence. Combined with a reoccurring monthly donation, you are being granted 24-hour token access to Noisebridge. We call these sorts of users Noisebridge [[Philanthropist|Philanthropists]]. But with great power comes great responsibility. Please read this document and sign the bottom acknowledging your full understanding of it, then return the signed document to the Secretary to start your 24-hour access to the space.<br><br>

==How did I become a Philanthropist?==
One or more Members find you to be awesome and excellent to the space. You along with these Members then come to a Tuesday meeting to introduce who you are and to ask for 24-hour access. If at least one Member sponsors you and no Member blocks, you've passed the vetting process. The last but important bit we ask of you is that you please make a reoccurring donation of a '''recommended $80 a month''' (possible sliding scale; talk to the [[Treasurer]] or [[Secretary]] for more details). It is also possible for your sponsor to financially sponsor your access to the space, but this must be communicated and agreed upon with the Treasurer before access can be granted. 

If any Members block during this process we ask that you be excellent and discuss any issues brought up with them offline outside the meeting. Once resolved, you and your sponsoring Member can return to a Tuesday meeting to retry. As always, non-Members can ask a Member to act as proxy.

==How does 24-hour token access work?==
Generally, people can get into Noisebridge without any token access during the open hours of 11 AM to 10 PM. Some excellent users have been specifically granted daytime token access during the hours of 11 AM to 10 PM. Members have 24-hour token access. Noisebridge Philanthropists get 24-hour token access without the status of being a Member.

Noisebridge has an RFID-based access control system. After you've been accepted for 24-hour access, you provide the Secretary with a suitable RFID token (i.e. your Clipper card) or receive one from Noisebridge for a $5 donation. The Secretary will then add your token along with your contact information into the access list giving you 24-hour access. 

You can use this RFID token to open the front door by tapping your token to the keypad to the left of the door.

Your email address will get added to a private announce list specifically for communicating to token holders (like if a dog accidentally eats the token reader machine). Additionally the Secretary or Treasurer might email you directly regarding reoccurring donation details.

The reoccurring donation is a monetary donation. If your access is revoked, the donation for that month or previous months are not refunded. Just because you're donating a certain amount does not make you any more or less a valid person to be at Noisebridge.

==What are my responsibilities to maintain being a Philanthropist and 24-hour token access?==
To maintain your access we require you to understand and follow these responsibilities and have your sponsoring Member go over them with you.

As always, we ask you to be excellent by following our [[Anti-Harassment Policy]] and [[Community Standards]].

If you're found to be unexcellent, regardless of what your status is with the space, you can always be asked to leave at anytime. This could happen as the follow-up action of having your access revoked at the following Tuesday meeting. 

During our general hours of 11 AM - 10 PM, we ask that you be friendly and positive to those who don't have access who want to get inside. 

While in the space, if someone rings the doorbell to the gate, you can open it for them by tagging your token to the reader on the inside of the door. Please remember to greet them as they come in, get their name, ask them what brings them to Noisebridge today, and be helpful if you can. You are under no obligation to let anyone in, however '''you are completely responsible for whoever you let in and that might be grounds for revocation of access (important!)'''

During our after hours (10 PM - 11 AM), use your best judgment to decide who you allow into the space. Anyone you do bring into the space, guest, or people you've just met, are all '''your''' responsibility. '''If you feel someone is being unexcellent at any time, you are obligated to bring this concern to their attention, and should it not be resolved, you should kindly ask them to leave'''.

At 10 PM and afterwards, if you're the last person with 24-hour access leaving the space, please follow the [[Lock Up Procedures]] to clear out and secure the space.

==What do I not get through being a Philanthropist?==
At no point does being a Philanthropist nor having 24-hour token access grant you the ability to sleep at Noisebridge, "sleep hack" or nap in the space overnight. This is a legal requirement set forth upon anyone entering our space and violators will not be tolerated. Whether an average hacker, Philanthropist, or Member, hacking belongs at Noisebridge and sleeping belongs at home.

Currently Members can grant anyone a daytime access token that works from the hours of 11 AM to 10 PM for 30 days. As of this writing, Philanthropists do not have this ability. Depending on need and circumstances, we might go down a path of changing this in the future.

==How could I lose my title as Philanthropist and 24-hour token access?==
Your access may be revoked for the following reasons:
* You become delinquent in your reoccurring monthly donations.
* You were sleeping in the space (this would also most likely result in a ban from Noisebridge).
* You gave your access token to someone else to use (circumstances might lead to this need, clear it with the members first).
* A Member finds you to be unexcellent and brings this up with you and it cannot be resolved. It is recommended for this situation to be mediated by a neutral party. See [[:Conflict_Resolution|Conflict Resolution]] and [[:Mediation|Mediation]]. If for any reason issues cannot be resolved after sincere attempts at mediation, the Member can be bring up revocation at a Tuesday meeting. It only takes a single Member and a single meeting to revoke access.
** A Member may revoke your access because you did not follow through with your 24-hour access responsibilities to the best of your abilities.
** A Member may revoke your access if you have violated our code of conduct. 
** A Member may revoke your access if you have violated our anti-harassment policy. 
** As always a non-Member may ask a Member to act as proxy for any issues they have with you or your access. 

Once access is revoked, you reoccurring donation is still a monetary donation and will not be refunded.

After access is revoked, if within 30 days, you're able to resolve the issues with the Member or Members who have revoked your access, and the Member(s) state(s) that they no longer want to revoke your access, you may regain your 24-hour access. If 30 days passes with no resolution, your access is completely removed and you will need to restart the process over after you've resolved all issues.
