Noisebridge Pre-Event Safety Briefing[edit | edit source]

Scope & Purpose[edit | edit source]

  • The sponsor or organizer should read this prior to events
    • Sponsor should take into account whether any attendees or audience are attending NB for the first time and are completely unfamiliar with our space and expectations
  • Can be distributed to attendees prior to the meeting or at the meeting, as needed
  • Can be published as a page on the NB wiki, posted in the space, and/or linked to in a Meetup Event page

Notes:[edit | edit source]

  • Note that events hosted at NB may have their own code-of-conduct so long as it does not conflict with NB's community standards or policies

Safety Briefing[edit | edit source]

Items in RED should be physically pointed out by the event sponsor or organizer

Welcome to Noisebridge, San Francisco’s longest running egalitarian hackerspace. We are concerned about your safety, so please listen-up. This is important.

Fire Exits:[edit | edit source]

  • Back of the space on the first floor

Bathrooms:[edit | edit source]

  • One bathroom on each floor at the back of the space by the rear staircase

Accessibility:[edit | edit source]

  • No elevator, but please speak to the event organizer and we will do our best to accommodate you

Radically Open Door Policy:[edit | edit source]

  • We provide access to all members of the community, and for a broad range of activities
  • We are not able to screen every individual who enters Noisebridge
  • Keep your eyes and ears open, and report any incidents right away.

Personal Safety:[edit | edit source]

  • Zero tolerance for anyone who threatens the peaceful enjoyment of Noisebridge
  • We have a strict anti-harassment policy and expect everyone to be treated excellently at all times
  • If anyone makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, report it right away

How to Report an Incident:[edit | edit source]

  • Directly:
    • Ask the individual to leave. Anyone can ask anyone to leave. The request should be respected.
  • Indirectly:
    • Tell the event organizer or NB event sponsor
  • Anonymously:
    • Use the SafeSpace reporting bot accessed through QR codes on the yellow signs

Be Excellent[edit | edit source]

  • It falls on everyone to make and keep Noisebridge an excellent place. Please do your part.
  • Be excellent to each other
