Noisebridge uses RFID for some access control systems. As of this revision, the whole system is named [[Shed]]. (The one at [[2169 Mission]] was named [[Earl]].)
 
The system is based on RFID-RC522 devices using tags that work at 13.56Mhz. This is compatible with what we call [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFC NFC]
 
They kind of look like this, on a high level.
