RABBIT HOLE: Used especially in the phrase going down the rabbit hole or falling down the rabbit hole, a rabbit hole is a metaphor for something that transports someone into a wonderfully (or troublingly) surreal state or situation. -Rabbit Hole in Dictionary.com Slang Dictionary

Rabbit holing is what hackerspaces do. They provide an entry point to a world of new associates and pursuits that is often a transformative point in a person's life.

If we are doing it right, a person's first visit to a hackerspace is the first day of the rest of a very different and hopefully changed for the better life trajectory that leads towards greater creativity, technical wizardry, and general excellence with equal parts experimental strangeness and curious wonder.
