Hey so I'm just going to lay out the situation as I see it.

  • I set up this page so that people could coordinate, collaborate, and help make the hackathon happen.
  • Someone anonymously edited the page to put phrases like "shitty people" in prominent places, and add a lot of scatological references. I assumed this was meant in a mean-spirited way. I might have been wrong. Either way: I reverted the changes.
  • Then someone anonymously edited the page to add random personal information about volunteers, presumably obtained from Googling people's names. I think this is bizarre, threatening, and uncool by any metric.

I want this page to help people trying to make things. I don't want it to be a platform for harassment. I'm not sure what the best way to achieve that is.

In point of fact, at least one "scatological reference" is already present on one of the event sites. If scatological references really bother this event organizer, then the webmaster or webmasters involved are most certainly invited to excise the scatological reference(s) on that site at their earliest convenience, in order to further reduce ambiguity while keeping things figuratively "cool" by all popular metrics.
....and fyi as of this very writing, the Joshuah and Joshua talk pages apparently don't even exist yet.

I've protected the page against anonymous edits.
