There is some interest in a field trip to a shooting range to shoot guns in a Safe and Orderly manner.  If you're interested, list your name below, along with any time restrictions and whether you are able to drive a carpool. No previous knowledge or experience is required.  If you always wanted to try shooting a gun, this is a good opportunity for that.

The nearest range to 83C is, to the best of my knowledge, Jackson Arms in SSF.

Jackson Arms
Jackson Arms is an indoor 25 yard range, about a 15 minute drive from 83c.  They require that an experienced shooter be at each lane, but an experienced shooter can share their lane with two or three beginners, provided that the experienced shooter passes a safe handling test and signs a form taking responsibility for the actions of the beginners they're supervising.  I've gone there with large groups before and they've been accommodating and friendly.  They have fun stuff to rent, and I think it's a great place to learn.

My favorite range in the bay area is the Chabot Gun Club range in Chabot national rec area in the east bay.  It's a gorgeous outdoor range in parkland, but a bit of a drive, and only open when weather permits.  They don't have rentals, so we'd need to bring our own supplies.  The longer ranges make rifle shooting a lot more interesting than it is at Jackson.  The longer drive, occasional fogged-out days, and lack of rentals makes Jackson the easier option however.

There are a few other ranges in the Bay Area as well, but I think these two are the ones worth considering.

User:EmbeddedLinuxGuy would strongly prefer an outdoor range such as Pacific Rod & Gun Club vs. indoor lanes like Jackson Arms. I would be willing to drive up to two hours into the sticks to make this happen.

User:tooluser yes please.  Plus one more, my wife.  Can drive.

ToniCarra - Yeehaw lets go shoot some guns, I have a car, anytime!

Metatron/Mark - I'm in the area from Feb 02 to 09 coming in from the UK (basically if you want to shoot here you need to be rich or a criminal) I am planning on visiting the space and would love to go for a shoot. I've used shotguns and air riffles but that's it.

Helyx I'm definitely in on this!! I haven't shot in awhile, and have no equipment, but i have a car! There is also an outdoor range in Richmond as well, though I'm pretty sure they don't do rentals either.

steiny  Me too.  I was a pistol and rifle instructor in the USMC in the early '90's...I can coach you if you are a beginner, help you if you are nervous, or want to correct bad habits.  I live in Richmond (east bay) and can drive.  Count me in!

Eve - interested, can drive, can bring own, seeking guidance on proper maintenance. Hours flexible.

Barry - I'm interested. Chabot Gun Club seems like it's my style. I taught the Rifle Shooting and Shotgun Shooting merit badges for the Boy Scouts for six years; I could do a basic safety and technical lecture. I have one interesting rifle I'd be happy to bring, a 1912 SMLE. It's very enlightening to use a gun that's a century old, and still extremely reliable.

Salem: Never held a gun.

Anti - Interested. Prefer to go to one where there are NO cops but that can be difficult I know. You can call though and ask them what days are better to miss them and they'll tell you. Interested in room to room/mazes/blackout night(no nightvision used) indoor and outdoor/ and 'weak' hand shooting as well. Also love to start communication with these folks that are interested and get them involved in RE-claiming OUR gun rights in CA. This is great I was going to start same. Also you may consider renting a 15 person passenger van to carpool and ALL kick in for it

generatrix - I would love to do this, as i've never been to a range. I don't have a car so i'd have to pool with people...

GinaL: prefer indoor range and can drive if not too far away from SF. Newbie.

Bedie - I am super interesting in this trip - I have a car but no equipment
