[Cyborg] [Noisebridge-discuss] The Next HOPE

Having the ECG project at The Next HOPE will be cool. I think people there will like it. I think that if we had ECG with a few other human interfaces (North Paw, OpenEEG, etc.) it would be way fun and popular at the conference. We need people to pipe in, and to make this happen! If we had a way(s) to control a robot by changing our body that would be awesome!
ECG is probably an easier way to start out than EEG. But the OpenEEG project makes the hardware easy (and pretty inexpensive, too). Electrodes seem to be the most challenging, but some people, such as Andreas, who's been hanging out at Noisebridge doing way cool EEG stuff, have it down! So, please feel free to comment and/or ask questions on the Noisebridge EEG list.
Please do come to the workshop at Baltimore-Node. They seem like a really good group of people. Following my workshop on Saturday they are having a 6-month anniversary open house.

I've never been to the baltimore node and I hear you're supposed to be there this weekend. Maybe I'll make a trip up!
I'm working on a low cost version of an ECG amp front that can be assembled as a kit. Once that's working I'll refine it with an instrumentation amp and add more electrodes. Then I have to work on ADC and signals processing. I have a Xilinx Spartan-3E board with some onboard ADC hardware that might work well as a processing host with the picoblaze soft processor loaded up. Still ironing out the kinks in getting my computer to talk to the board though ;) I'm also interested in what cheap microcontrollers might be able to handle.
EEG seems considerably more ambitious than ECG, but I'd like to move onto EEG once I get the hang of ECG for sure.
I'm open to working on any kind of human machine interface project, but this is what I'm focusing on right now as an entry point into bio signals. I'd be interested in biofeedback related stuff, driving robots or other systems with the heart signal, etc.

(Thanks for passing that to the list again, Sai.)
The ECG would be a way fun project to show off! I'm also copying the EEG and Cyborg lists here, since there's probably projects that could all fit nicely together. North Paw would certainly be one. Any other Cyborg projects that would be cool to show off at The Next HOPE?
Can we get a cool EEG project together for The Next HOPE? Any ideas?
p.s. I almost made it to DC this trip out East, but couldn't quite fit it in. Nick said you are kicking ass in DC, Daniel. Yay!
