I like this device:

It autonomously flies a track using GPS guidance, which can be overridden
if necessary. Notice how they strongly encourage using the semi-autonomous
guidance, and recommend direct joystick control only for experts.

Cellular is a good link for something like that, since you're not sending
realtime control data, but rather commands like "hold station at waypoint
#1", "return to launch point", etc.

It would be awkward to have to try to maintain realtime control in a
situation where the operator could be distracted or disrupted.
