Shannon, if you, and/or others, who have been part of the ongoing discussions could come tomorrow night, that would be helpful. It's short notice to call this, I know, but I'm leaving town again, and wanna help move things forward while I'm in town. Just trying to help a bit.

Mitch.

There was a long and very productive conversation about this last night. There are two basic fronts on which this is being worked:

On the social front, we clarified the existing Noisebridge policy, which is that if someone is being a disruption it's totally reasonable to ask them to leave and not to come back until they've come to a Tuesday meeting to talk to the group about their behavior. We clarified that a series of low-level acts of scumminess is just as actionable as a big drug-induced violent freak-out. There is also now an "85" page on the wiki, where people should be put before they get 86'd so we can keep track of people that others are having problems with.

On the technical front, several efforts are underway to improve the door entry systems; by far the most viable seems to be Kelly's "hot tub" system, which involves revocable PIN codes; when I left the space last night, people were hard at work ginning up a prototype keypad entry scheme.

In general, we are starting to do an OK job of engaging with this problem on a broad and nuanced front, rather than picking one cure-all scheme and implementing it full force...

Who wants to get together on Thursday, 6:30pm, at Borderlands Cafe (870 Valencia, near 19th St), to brainstorm how to tell people who don't belong at NB to get the f out, and keep them out?
