Ryan Varga emailed the "press@" email, saying that he would like to come by Noisebridge. I told him to feel free to come by. I also told him to ask before taking photos or video with people in the shot.

I am a filmmaker based in Toronto and have received funding to direct and produce a documentary about engineering. I am travelling around the US, Canada, and Europe meeting with engineers, makers, entrepreneurs, teachers, and students, to document the changes happening in engineering education and culture.

I am in the Bay Area for the week and would like to come visit the space and shoot some quick interviews to talk about what maker spaces mean for the future of engineering education.
The film will focus on the shift from the abstract/theoretical emphasis that has dominated engineering since WWII towards the making/doing/entrepreneurial emphasis emerging right now. The guiding question: How are changes in education, technology, and culture, nourishing an "engineering renaissance"?
I invite you to watch this short doc I made about Makers in Toronto:https://vimeo.com/23589700
