[Rack] request for an rj45 connection to a NB LAN

plugging a laptop into port 21 of the Dell 48 port
switch seems not to access a dhcp server. is it
possible that the dhcp server is working for wifi
only or for some subnet that's not available through
port 21 on the Dell switch?
might be helpful to have the dhcp ip address range
specified on the wiki
https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Resources/Network
that way we could safely assign a static ip address
to the linksys.

we've tried assigning various ip addresses to the
linksys (hoping we don't create contention).
we're now wondering if there's something in the
172.30.0.0 side of things that's disallowing the
linksys to pass packets back and forth or if the
linksys router is somehow misconfigured or defective.

and hey! we just noticed it's 6 PM! time to go eat.
i'll disconnect the linksys trom the NB switch.
(for the curious: our linksys is sitting on top
of our upper 1U box in susan the rack.)
