As to laser ventilation, I think I have a solution:
a sliding sheet (of plywood or some such) that moves
over the doorway, a gizmo over the interior "window"
that lets air flow from the space into the room but not
the in other direction, and open the exterior window.
by itself that scheme might do the trick, given the
low-pressure outside of the east side of the building.

As to improving lighting in the sewing area, I may
be around for a little bit before noon and will surely
be around after around 3:30 or so. Grab me and make me
do things.
