Distributed Databases
Distributed Databases[edit | edit source]
Taught by Jonathan Moore
Who wants a class on distributed databases. I gave a impromptu to lecture about them a few weeks ago and it went well. People who where not there seemed to want me to do it again. So I have questions, what format do people want? One long lecture ( the last one was like three hours and there was more that could have been covered ) or a few. Do people want just a state of the art lecture or do they want specific reviews of Dynamo, BigTable, GFS, ect.
As for days times I can do any Monday night and every other Friday night and every other Saturday or Sunday.
Pleas give input if this interests you.
Josh Berkus: I'd be interested in this.
Ryan: I'm a committer on hbase and I'd be interested in teaching people about how this stuff works, how implementation works, and all sorts of details
Idris: I'd be interested in this. One long lecture and then maybe a suggested curriculum for a class?
Sundee: Def interested!
Nick: I'm just entering the world of data science so apologies if this is trying to field a more advanced crowd, but I'm very interested in a survey of mainstream services (particularly redshift), and dbm fundamentals.
Bris: yes, let's.
