GGJ2022 is a collaboration between the Chua Productions and Bay Area Devs.
In order to promote the health, safety, and well-being of all the participants due to the global pandemic, this event will be a hybrid event, both online and in-person if desired.
The online portion of the event will be held in the Bay Area Devs Collective Discord.

Theme Reveal[edit | edit source]
The Theme for GGJ 2022 is.....: The theme for Global Game Jam® 2022 was announced as a part of a 4 hour opening ceremony that was live streamed to over 28,000 viewers on on our Twitch channel and featured on the front page of Twitch.
We started things off with a little story about stone soup from Daniel Cook the CCO of Spry Fox.
The stream featured interviews with sponsors, organizers, GGJ committee members and more and highlighted the communities and impact GGJ has on game developers around the world.
Executive Director Kate Edwards welcomed us to the jam and wished everyone luck in their creations.
This year's opening to Global Game Jam featured inspiring keynote talks from three professional game developers who have all participated in GGJ in the past:
Tanya X. Short, Captain of Kitfox Games spoke about her process for being successful at a game jam.
Chase Bethea, Award winning composer of over 21 video games talked about how every game has a pulse and how to make the most of your opportunity at GGJ.
Elaine Gomez,, Game Designer at Brass Lion Entertainment and co-founder of Latinos in Games spoke about experiencing growth through your game jam experience.
Then the moment we wait for all year finally arrived when the theme was revealed to be....
We can't wait to see all of the games you will create based on this inspiring theme and hope you will join tens of thousands of game creators all over the world in making a games with us!
