Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

Philanthropists[edit | edit source]

A Philanthropist at Noisebridge has earned enough trust from the community to open and close the space.

(What does that mean? What do we expect from Philanthropists? How do you become one? etc)

GuildMaster's Report[edit | edit source]

Discuss the concept of guilds! Everyone thinks its a good idea. What are Guilds? Mark: Guilds are an attempt at a fluid structural "organism". A way to keep noisebridge organized, whilst maintaining its identity as an anarchist org. They are subgroups within noisebridge that are organized to the extent that their organizers want to do so! They are generally groups with a common purpose and set of incentives. Tend to revolve around creative interests, but there are ideas for a few that are more about keeping Noisebridge itself excellent. There is still a lot of open questions as to the extent to which guilds and their leadership should be formalized. We can save such questions for discussion section.

Please read aloud when you get to this section. Feel free to ask questions (though possibly save them for discussion section?) I am here. -Mark

What is the guildmaster's report?

The guildmaster's report is a do-ocratically done organizational health and status report of noisebridge.

What is the current state of structural organization at Noisebridge?

It is still weak, but: steps are being taken, moves are being made. The proverbial "bandage" is being ripped off. We do have a hardworking Board, which is great!

  • What are the guilds? Which ones exist?

--Recently Active-- Meta Games Music Crypto Electronics? (We know they do a couple classes!) ---Unknown Active Status-- Sewing Elevator Laser Fundraising Events-Support

  • How is our online community doing?

There is Noisebridge wide Slack (invite system), and discuss.noisebridge.info(public) Still seems fairly inactive. A lot of questions about resources that have been misplaced. Some other stuff, but not much. Games guild has a Discord server that is somewhat active. If your guild has another communication channel, please let me know so I can keep an eye on it and add it to the list of maintained communications resources!!

  • Guild Rep's Reports

Games Guild (Mark): Games guild had 1 class this week on Thursday. It was, poorly.. attended to say the least. No coins were created. No new members were added.

Meta Guild (also Mark): We are working on finding a team to create digital infrastructure. We want to create the coins system that Guilds can use and modify to their benefit. Also looking for people who would want to fabricate/craft physical stuff for guilds. Discussions are ongoing, nothing set in stone yet.

??? If there are any people who want to rep a guild (you get the fancy title of "Guildmaster"!), please reach out to Mark on slack (mwillson on Discuss)! I am talking to folks and trying to find eager volunteers. The job is basically to give a very short report just like the one above ^ each week. Well, and editing your guild's wiki page. Thats pretty much it!

That's the report!

Consensus[edit | edit source]

Consensus is how the Noisebridge Membership may change how Noisebridge works.

(How does Consensus work? What types of things are good for formal Consensus? What is small-c consensus? What is a "block"?)

Proposals from last week [edit | edit source]

(Add any items which are consensed upon or someone has raised a principle objection for to the Consensus Items History page.)

Proposals for next week [edit | edit source]

(Add any new items for consensus to the Current Consensus Items page.)

Discussion[edit | edit source]

Discussion Item 1[edit | edit source]

Guilds

Mark: A noisebridger who shall for now remain unnamed has brought up the concern that having a thing like a "guildmaster" is giving someone or ones "too much power and influence", not to mention "too much responsibility". They are concerned with burnout, which is totally fair. I would say that I don't envision a guildmaster as someone with power, but rather someone who feels a desire to maintain communication to the larger noisebridge. Perhaps we'd like to setup some ground principles/rules for what it means to be a guildmaster and how responsibility gets transferred. I'd like to think that multiple people can be co-guildmaster's of the same guild if they so choose.

I would just generally like to recommend an essay that I recently read which has influenced my thought, as it presents some ideas I find analagous to noisebridge's situation: https://www.jofreeman.com/joreen/tyranny.htm

Elevator/Lease:

Any progress on this? Has Ruth/anyone heard from Brian yet?
