Excellence[edit | edit source]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

(What does that mean? How does the Anti-Harassment Policy fit into this? Are we SURE we know what being Excellent is? This is an important and fundamental conversation at Noisebridge, so let's give it like 120 seconds.)

Read the wiki

Participation[edit | edit source]

Everyone at Noisebridge is a participant at Noisebridge.

(What does that mean? How do you get a door key? Access to Slack, Discuss, etc?)

Read the wiki

Philanthropists[edit | edit source]

A Philanthropist at Noisebridge has earned enough trust from the community to open and close the space.

(What does that mean? What do we expect from Philanthropists? How do you become one? etc)

Discussion[edit | edit source]

Discussion Item 1[edit | edit source]

Elevator

We have been getting more estimates which are near 300k. We need funds. People want an Elevator so we should do this. It will probnably be almost a year before we have a full elevator. A lot of people are interested about chair lift tech, and how different lifts work. Lift to a lift, Ramp to a lift, etc. All possibilities are on the table.

Pyconaut- We need to write an email to landlord, Me and corey plan to write one, and Tyler send it. Me and corey have just missed meeting a few times online. But we want to be careful because this email will be critical. We want to have the landlord feel amazing for approving us putting an elevator in.

Evil dan- Find out if you need permit for elevator music.

Costs include hole in ground floor, hole in second floor, hole in roof, walls for carrigeway, equiptment room, hardware, instalation, permits.

If we can do the chairlift option it would be much much cheaper.

Some questions are would the people using the chairlift like it, and would it be permisiible by the city.

Pyconaut- I am wondering about the second floor landing area, and what that needs as I am unsure of the properties of the second floor. Think about the physics of an elevator even 16 feet off the ground and the forces at play, and how it could affect the second floor.

Evil dan- We should keep doing research, and focus on ground floor first and formost. How high can we go before certin things get dicy. Reaching out to friends about elevators.

300k is exspensive will eat up a lot of bitcoin if we dont have good fundraising.

Movable chairlift!!! and raised floor sections? https://assisted-lifting.com/products/ram-portable-wheelchair-lift

TJ- Can we rely on fundraising?

Discussion Item 2[edit | edit source]

Fundraisong

Pyconaut- Our fundraising ability has been pretty bad so far, most of our fundraising events just break even, the biggest donations have been from a noisebridger reaching out to a noisebridge ajacent group (kracken, handshake, google (150k bitcoin, 100k bitcoin, 30k direct deposit USD total orginal donations)). Some events and projects bring ina bit of cash (Stupid hackathon, hack comedy, barbot (800 dollars per event maybe)). Grants could work really well if we sell ourselves more. (grantors want to see a reason to donate, certain metrics, and whatnot that we dont show very easily.) Some metrics they like (diversity, classes, people in the space, projects, use of funds, good accounting).

Discussion Item 3[edit | edit source]

Buildout

Tj- Access system will highly affect buildout. It is a chicken and egg issue, will access system get noisebridge people to come, or will people coming making noisebridge need the access system.

Pyconaut- Doing a virtual open house in a few weeks and then a real open house in about a month. Focus on front of house and driveway.

Pyconaut- I have found a nice looking spot for a ventilation system. Will try to coordinate logistics via forums (slack/discuss)

Discussion Item 4 (next)[edit | edit source]

Classes and communities

Pyconaut- Orginising curriculum, and how noisebridge does classes. And get guilds to take care of the gear, and carrying forward knowledge forward. Can we get funding for courses (patreons, grants).

(classes we have enjoyed at noisebridge) Gamebridge, ruby, linux, 3D modeling, Crypto, LockPicking, abelton, curcuit hacking, sewing, laser cutting, Haskell, security hardware, python, NeurotechX, algorthims, philiosiphy, whiteboarding, hydroponics).

(classes we want more= welding, woodworking)
