Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]

Feedback:

    • lizzard: looks amazing!!! do it! useful!!
    • tj - flaschen protocl may be overkill - laser cut stuff does have a nice effect. nice aesthetic.
    • lovi - looks great to use something from the past
    • lxpk - anyone have color feedback/suggestions
    • bedcloud - has ideas! make it pop! knows how!

  • electrical work!! (see discussion below)

Financial Report[edit | edit source]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

Financial Report - Dec 7, 2021 Being updated. As of 2021 11 16:

   Cash: $325,736.19
   Crypto: $145,016.08
   Total: $470,752.27
   DEFICIT: spending deficit currently.

Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]

  • Relay: Wanted to discuss fundraising idea. We do have assets in cash. We should put our assets in some investments that pay interest! We could have our cash assets grow like crypto does. We've done well through the recession because of crypto. Any objections?
  • TJ: Seems like a good idea for stable growth!
  • Nothing risky, good to maintain long term stability.

Consensus[edit | edit source]

Consensus is how the Noisebridge Membership may change how Noisebridge works.

(How does Consensus work? What types of things are good for formal Consensus? What is small-c consensus? What is a "block"?)

Proposals from last week [edit | edit source]

(Add any items which are consensed upon or someone has raised a principle objection for to the Consensus Items History page.)

Proposals for next week [edit | edit source]

(Add any new items for consensus to the Current Consensus Items page.)

Discussion[edit | edit source]

Discussion Item 1[edit | edit source]

  • Lizzard: We need to spend some money on infrastructure. Electrical (as below) Downstairs toilet. Floor refinishing (even just the front half/ hackitorium would help). What is blocking us? Do we need a budget? Would having a separate bank account with some maintenance/infra money in it, help? (and empowering people to use it)
  • I want us to not bleed cash but also not let the space look bad or be unsafe so we should invest some funds in it. Let's figure out how much we're comfortable spending.
  • LXPK: do we or dont' we have funds for laser cuter. actually we already put aside money for that in buildout.

lizzard: !!!! really!

  • lxpk: Yes. we did this in consensus. using a process called expedited consensus.
  • lizzard - we want to be efficient but have safeguards against bad / too hasty decision/ bad actors.
  • Let's ask the treasurer and put that into the financial report. (how much is set aside for buildout)

Discussion Item 2[edit | edit source]

Hiring an electrician: List out what electrical work needs to be done for the laser cutter (120V and 240V panel installation, running conduit from garage door to underneath back stairwell, etc.).
   arc welder in back (patio?)
Get 2-3 estimates on having the electrician to do 100% of the work we need.
Get 2-3 estimates on having electrician do only bare minimum to be permit compliant, and we DIY the rest. (If we're a small fish with a small job, and if we're picky to save a few dollars, we'll be dropped to the lowest priority)
  • mapping the space with 3d model
  • do we have an electrical map as part of CAD file. will help deal with electrician.
  • TJ- claus says we have more paperwork that we have to do to get permitting and contractor. How it will be wired depends on the room arrangements which are in flux. Maybe better to just get in touch through the long legal hoops now so when they finally ask us what we want then we can start sending them the electrical maps.
  • Liz: Do we need permits? Thought we didn't for this.
  • TJ: Setting up contract less trivial than we thought. And should we start with laser cutter and move on?
  • gaarden (i think?): We need high voltage for arc welder in the back.
  • Relay: Putting it in back where it won't blind people will save people's eyes with a blinder.
  • lxpk: SparkleForge was stuff not good to be near to wood dust - can't be dirty. but also may involve fire risk.
  • lxpk - https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Resources/Electrical_Map needs to be updated with our current actual electrical to help electrical folks do upgrades and update that map
  • lovi talks about the sudo room laser lens being cracked. we must protect it from smoke. (ie isolate it from...)
  • Smoke cracks the laser cutter and Sudo's got cracked that way
  • Gaardn: Lovi's right about that.
  • LXPK: So I take it then that the ideal setup for sparkleforge would partition or vent all smoke away from the laser cutter.
  • Relay: Moveable walls or drape partitions.
  • Gaardn: Is financial reason?
  • Liz: We can do them if we redo electrical things and permits.
  • Gaardn: We can do permits if it needs to be done.
  • Liz: Expensive but maybe the right way.
  • LXPK: Partition would be a start until the permit and build happens of a wall.
  • Relay: We need solid layout before we build walls.
  • Lovi: I've seen temp partitions work.
  • LXPK: Should we have a build layout meeting?
  • Relay: Let's do that.Sparse turnout lately.
  • TJ: If we set day and time lots would help.
  • Gaardn: Monday 7?
  • Relay: No. Will we be able to get enough people?
  • Lovi: Realistic to wait till new year?
  • Liz: Clean out, access control, then walls.
  • TJ: We could build partitions where we want them to be. before we commit to the wall/ permiting process
  • Liz: I like that curtain idea. (big theatrical curtain!?)
  • LXPK: Could we start drafting it during Doocratic thursdays? I can put it in VR from the Sketchup and Blender files.
  • Gaardn: How to collaborate?
  • LXPK: We can move objects around the VR space and take pictures or draw sketches and put pictures on the 272 wiki.
  • Sofia: How reliable would a plan be if people move things around?
  • Relay: If the plan works out well enough and is a lot of work to move, it probably won't be.
  • Sofia: Disagree.
  • TJ: The way I've seen things done is people just do reversible things and things will solidify around them.
  • LXPK: Ill be in tomorrow (Wednesday) 7-11 to get the layout visualization system started and for anyone who wants to discuss. First drafting of actual layout meeting will be Thursday 6-9PM and will continue every Thursday till we like it.

Discussion Item 3[edit | edit source]

board members: Dashboard, Liz's cat nominated.

Fun things to do after[edit | edit source]

  • PGP Key Signing could happen now (if it doesn't happen before any given Meeting). Ask others around the space or check the list to see who wants in on the action.
