Excellence[edit]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

Loren - Excellence is helping out others, and there is more info on the wiki, you should read it!

New members/philanthropists[edit]

Mark: Did the proposal on membership get passed? Its still on the current consensus item page, and there is no indication if it was passed or not. - It did

Les would like to apply for membership, someday. Is looking for a sponsor. Gaardn said that she would sponsor Les!

Alex- suggests talking to TJ, and that you are excellent from his experience.

TJ agrees to sponsor Les, and Hungry Bogart

Financial Report[edit]

Claus: I'm not sure where we are at, but most of the expenditures are in the finace-wg slack. Primarily we fixed the toilet, we ordered some sharps containers for the space.

Alex - Referred to the meeting notes from the last time, and bitcoin has gone down a bit. cash = $309,106.45crypto = 3.25 BTC ~= $121153.15total = $430,259.60

Spending Needs[edit]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

Fundraising Update[edit]

How's it all going Alex = we didn't end up doing a fundraiser, we did have the punk show though. We still want to do an aniversary part in the near future. The people who helped organized the show are avaliable and read to do our next show and provide our musical finale for it. They proposed a date as soon as the 5th of march. We have an event conflict of that date, Looking for input on should we change the day or try and combine. What are the other pieces we need to bring, we need comedy and speakers to make it a viable event.

Loren - The mask consensus we agree to is the same as before, we just renewed it.

Big C Consensus Items[edit]

Loren - What was our status on the consensus item? Alex - its still on the consensus items list.

TJ - Membership concsensus item got passed.

Alex - Did we pass officalizing that maskes are excellent and people should agree by a small C consensus?

Mark - It seems that one passed as well, the offical policy of the city has changed though. Masks are no longer mandated for most things, excluding public transit and some other high-risk environments. There are new rules

Alex - you Only need one signature, and you don't have to go through the old meeting process since that was uncomfortable to some people.

Consensus Items [edit]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

Discussion[edit]

Discussion Item 1[edit]

Fundraiser, Hack comedy event! Alex - To make the event happen we need people who are ready to speak/perform at it, and can speak to the history of Noisebridge, since that is the theme of what is going on. We wanna be in a really good place by the 15th anniversary. Anyone who wants to speak. If your willing to give a 5MOF story telling that would be great. The ingrdients, we have the music, lets find the comedians and pick a date.

Loren - What is the time line. Alex - There is a wiki page for this ----> https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/272GrandReopening

Should we do it on March 5th, or should we pick another day?

Loren - As soon as the 12th? Alex - Not sure what the best day will be, we were shooting for VDay but that didn't work.

TJ- Perhaps a timeline could be made?

Discussion Item 1.5 (post-meeting)[edit]

How soon can ppl be willing to do this event/do stuff for it? (Answers all over the place)

Mark: We need to build the hype machine before doing the event at the very least

Alex - check out the Outreach wiki page to sign up to help get the hype machine rolling

Ahmad suggests rolling in the Stupid Shit hackathon into the event

Discussion Item 2[edit]

Mark - Claus and I were talking about the wiki, and he brought up an interesting thought of doing a hard reset. I don't honestly know if I'm for that or not.

Claus - You have to delete irrelevant info to add relevant info. Easier to input data than take it out and put it back in - perhaps we could archive the old wiki and then create a new one with relevant info pasted in?

Loren was reading recently of treating notes as a costly resource, and we should automatically age things out, there is working memeory and some resources that should be static, and tools that we etc. We should either actively maintain or age them out.

Mark - Is there an objective critera isn't has long its been since its been active. Things can not be active, but be relevant.

Alex - I the vast majority of the edits for the wiki for a while. We tag it with templates with historical, or outdated. Those are findable, and we try and revist those posts, and change them. What the critera are, we can pick a thershold how long the thing hasn't been updated.

Alex Is strongly opposed with the idea of throwing away all of the stuff we have worked hard on. If people are interested in helping with the wiki then it would be good. The goal is to have things current, up to data and relevant requires people to adopt the pages they are responsible for.

Mark - More to the point of Claus's issue, I think a good action item for such an meeting is try and reserach a methodology for marking things kind of thing. So we can have a cleaner and more intuitive system. Its helpful to mark things as historical, but you still have a bunch of stuff you have to sift through. I just wonder if there is a better way to compartmentalize historical things. Would be useful to look at current pain points and understand better where the issues lie.

Alex: Does not see concrete benefit to mark a page as historical and moving it. Already noted on many pages. Mentions mediawiki system. Not familiar with other system of archiving other than moving historical info to the bottom of the page. Not something we want to remove from our wiki - it's like bragging rights that we have so many cool projects in the past.

Gaarden - Were you saying the best practices in standard wiki culture is older pages, Our system is not strange, its to maintain the wiki and you want to update it. Alex is very generous in offering his time to do the Thursday editing night, will pitch in as well.

Alex: Procedure he uses is to go through orphan pages and edit them so that they don't confuse people. [was much longer, I'm typing slowly tonight :/ ]

Discussion Item 3[edit]

Children's Area, and the Sewing room. Sophia requested for emily on the topic of childrens area in the sewing room, its not a good space for children and they could be easily hurt at the flip of a switch.

Gaardn - Noisebridge is not a safe place for children, if you love your children!

Alex- Parental supervision is suggested, in order to ensure that they are safe.

Les - Another space has a small chilrdens area that has worked well. (At the Omni commons)

Claus: Music room perhaps? Sewing room does not seem like a good idea.

Tj - there are less dangerous machines.

Alex - The VR area already sort of has a padded area that can be broken down regularly. It has the things. It has the characteristics, and it has VR. Maybe the game section could also be the kid friendly section as well. The nets aren't deployed right now, but they are like sports nets so you just bounce off.

Loren - Good communcation! Maybe we can update the wiki to point the childrens area, and can support them in a way that is safe and responsible.

Loren is making updates to the template to remind us to do the research and be more informed when the time comes, I think we are gonna stick around planning stuff, fleshing it out. Thanks so much!

Les - Thanks so much for recommending me for membership, I'm so grateful.

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
