Excellence[edit | edit source]
Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. Leon - excellence is particpating in the space, operating and trying to resolve issues being as good as you can. Lx - Wiki page, and posters on the wall. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence
Drinking club mate is excellent behavior.
Short announcements and events[edit | edit source]
Guy I'm here to maybe tune up the 3d printers, and they asked if I would teach a class, not this Thursday, next Thursday. Most of your printers are ender3 models. I have a big box of upgrades for them, that I could donate, I have no use for them. If you have pis I can set up a remote monitor/printing setup.
Cloud - If you need any help setting up, we can help with that.
Guy I would like someone to shadow me so that people know what I have done.
Cloud - Its different here, if you want to setup something to contribute you just do it.
Alex - Looking for people to sign up for Jam Camp starting september 7th, just after burning man. Oppurutunity to make a game in 8 weeks. Interested in game development check the wiki Jam page. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/GameJamCamp
Guy what languages?
Alex - c#, godot, unreal
T - looking for more people to help with noisebooth, contatc me if you are interested, moof in the discord. Tenative plans to have an event in soma in August. Contact me or alex in discord.
New members/philanthropists[edit | edit source]
Leon - To become associate member you need a signature from a member. Claus - Paperwork is in binder in print shop. Leon - then you can wait 8 weeks, and then need another signature. The thing is, associate members advantage is closing the space.

Financial Report[edit | edit source]
Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.
Spending Needs[edit | edit source]
Claus Table saw blade.
T - The stage has two speakers and no amp to power them. There is an old one that could be repaired, I think Blue tried to repair it, and it didnt' work. If buy a new amplifier, and in the ballpark of $500-1000. Aja - I could look into it, maybe we can scrape the goodwills. Ken - It would cost $100-$300 to fix
Raspberry Pis - We need them to setup the 3d Printer area.
Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]
Three cases of club mate sold at Sunday streets.
--tangent talking about sunday streets (discussion)--
LX - The things we weren't prepared for, we weren't here, so we didn't have a proper big sign people could see that attracted to them, and we didn't have the right kind of things to hand out. It was eye opening how much we could improve. Phillip - I went to the sunday streets, and then went to Noisebridge directly. I got the tour, it was awesome, then I found out afterwards there was a booth. Maybe the messaging could have been clear. Alex- Did you have the flyer. Phillip I was only looking at what was shared on Discord. ALex - We need a 10ft wide x 2-3 foot on each tent, not ours but the bay area hackerspace one.
Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]
Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if people ask Alex we added a requirement must attend two meetings in a row
Consensus Items [edit | edit source]
None
Discussion[edit | edit source]
Discussion Item 1[edit | edit source]
Stripe card reader for the space // Claus's Trip to New York
Discussion Item 2[edit | edit source]
- Trash chairs? // Cleanup
T - With the chairs, I have noticed the caution tape. Most of the ones with caution tape I moved outside while I was setting up the meeting. Blue - Those were marked by hack comedy, with good reason. We can call Fergus. Reasonable Fregus, but he is also reliable. Blue may be able to be there tommorow. T - You are the erasonable contact.
Discussion Item 3[edit | edit source]
- 3d Printer discussion:
- Donation to upgrade 3d printer parts? - Connex update? We have an expert that is going to come look at it. Cloud, you have the option to be trained, and train other people. Sometimes we have events. You have the option
Discussion Item 3[edit | edit source]
- updating event guidelines and concensus
Leon - 110 can be damaging, concert level is around 100 or so. Alex - I like the idea of a noiseistat. If an event says there is a class going on at the same time we set them to that. It could be adjusted. Leon - It should be strict, people were standing outside and it was too loud. T- 75-80 is safe 85 is dangerous and can damage your hearing. We can color it, and have a concensus item Leon - If someone thiks it is too loud, it must be turned down. Cloud - We were hiding for it. Leon - Maybe we can post signs. Aja - I was here that night, I could hear it upstairs.
Tea - We should have volume code at the space so we know what is not good. 90 db is routine for music venues but it matters what distance from speakers we measure from. If you're upstairs you can hear it anybody might have an opinion on from different places. Aja - Its too complex of an issue to codify to a number. In industrial environments everything technically won't cause hearing loss but its really loud but shows may not hurt but may cause hearing loss because they're continuous. Tea - there is something we can do by notifying people about events and giving them choices about where to be if theyre sensitive. Ultimately it's excellent to listen to people who are bothered by it and empower people to ask anybody at an event to ask the players to turn the volume down. Tea - You shouldn't expect a conflict of interest about what events are happening. Cloud - we can do some tests to see what decibels people are okay with. Blue - we discussed this for a while. We're not sending rovers to mars. We can address this during events in the future. We may be having a lot of discussion about setting system up. Maybe we should refine it and talk about it as we test the ideas and system. Philip - Maybe we could have a way for people at NB to anonymously report if things are too loud for them. Maybe there's contention about people having music expression vs people who want it to be more quiet. Maybe its good to have an anonymous way for people to express opinions. Also could we do sound proofing? Alex - we are planning NoiseCurtains to mitigate sound further in addition to the wall for the wood shop and to mitigate sound from hackitorium to the front. Stuff about walls has been talked about at previous meetings. People will be doing events for the space not just at the space.
Discussion Item 4[edit | edit source]
- ATM: ken - Turning it into a kiosk with some kind of ipad touchscreen built into it. It could be hackable to do something useful for the space. I have an idea to use it for that is temporary but is it something NB wants to hack? Cloud: I like that idea because I never bring cash but none of the circuitry to control it. It runs off floppy disks! Aza: We probably can't figure out how to make the cash machine part work for liability and tech reasons. Mark - to what extent do you want to do it vs the community. ken taking off the faceplate, putting a touch screen ipad, and then programming the ipad to be a menue, temporarily for a catering thing for burning man. if someone wants to hack the ipad I dont mind as long as I can use it for my ken This is something I brought to the space, but if people really want to make something out of it. Mark - There was a group of us talking about doing a kiosk project, created a channel in discord, you should talk about it in there and start the conversation. Its called Kiosk, its under projects. T - It could be renamed kiosk bridge.
Discussion Item 5[edit | edit source]
- Sunday Streets
Lx - We made a gigantic poster, which is amazing. On the subject of posters I want to get frames for them all. Sunday streets, lessons learned. T - First lesson learned have the poster before the event. lx one of the things I learned are the printers probably won't work, and we need to go to a print shop. We didn't get the posters printed what they were intended for. I can go to the print shop sometimes, those of us who are organizers should not be the printers. T = we need a dedicated role of someone printing. We could also use, if people maintain them, we could potentially be something that we do, do. Lx- even making copies is easier than taking just files. What we really need is on hand stuff. Claus - I have wanted for a long time to have a bi-fold handout for the tours. T - Do we want to turn this into a community project, create a channel, and setup meeting times? Noisebooth is larger than sunday streets. Lx - When we get better printed materials, and wiki. Maybe google calender, or the meetup working for everybody. Having a meeting is a good idea. Leon People really like the club mate Lx - The goal is to have a planning meeting, and talk to the other spaces, and not be rushed. Since we probably aren't going to be the main host. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/BACH
Mark - Our signange could have used more work. A nice consitent look to the booth. More importantly we didn't test everything out we wanted to do. Claus - Sounds about Noisebridge T - We need a date setup before Lx = Run through a week before. T - The Dress rehersal T - Someone suggested a cooler for noisebooth. I also want to make a NOisebooth kit, store it, and have it in a box, then people won't move the stuff in it. Lx - How about a cart, the cart rolls out and rolls to setup. T -
sunday streets is a discord channel the next one is coming in a month
Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]
Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
