Excellence[edit]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

Being excellent means doing good things and making sure you are accountable and taking responsibility when bad things are happening. Try to be respectful when conflicts come up and try to work through them with the best intentions, etc..

(What does that mean? Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.)

Short announcements and events[edit]

  • 60-second description per item in bulletpoint.
  • Copy-paste any pre-announcements for the upcoming meeting from Announcements.
  • After announcements, copy them to the past Announcements list. Retire any from the Next Meeting list that aren't marked ONGOING.

Mitchell/Kirk - synth workshop maybe once a month? Details TBD

Guitar pedal building workshop - Dates TBD

Mark - NB schedule is pretty free on Saturdays, or it could be nice as an offshoot of circuit hacking mondays. Up to you to decide.

TJ - Hack Comedy is happening next Saturday the 10th!

TJ - 5 Minutes of Fame on the 15th!

Guilds[edit]

  • What are guilds - briefly describe (much like the previous section on "Excellence")

Mark - Guilds are basically interest groups at noisebridge. They are groups of people who maintain resources and host events at NB Create one if you want or join an effort if you find someone is already doing one of interest to you!

  • Do any guilds have any announcements they'd like to make?

Mikayala - Interested in doing distributed web, OCAPS, p2p stuff. Maybe this is good impetus for formation of a guild?

TJ - AI guild might put together a front page and a schedule of some sort. We are developing a website and literature for people. There are 2 computers upstairs toward the front with Ubuntu and nice GPU's that we use. I set one up so it can be accessed remotely. Ping AI channel if you need help/details! cross pollination with #rack and #nb-infrastructure encouraged!

New Members/Associate Members[edit]

What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.

Eric is getting an application.

Financial Report[edit]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

deposited 639$ from the petty cash box

Mark - Donate money and do fundraisers!

Spending Needs[edit]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

Rajah - We have no hard drives or sdcards. 200 GB+ would be nice Mark - Cable adapters/cables - usb c, thunderbolt -> hdmi? Mikayla - throne of gold plated 1TB hdd's Mark - is noisecurtain still on the table? unsure... David - curtain seems like not so great an idea, we should just go for a wall Mark - We also need wood planks for the remainder of the front gate

TJ - California College of the Arts Oakland is auctioning stuff off! Ends in 2 days https://www.westauction.com/m/?fbclid=PAAaYamTce4JMJUT8ruAJkG37ZAKZ4pAXG0eDzwwMLYDtP-L07xvxl2Ro8bAI%23%2Fauction%2Fonline-auction-from-the-california-college-of-the-arts-3358#/auction/online-auction-from-the-california-college-of-the-arts-3358

Fundraising Update[edit]

How's it all going

Big C Consensus Items[edit]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if people ask. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items

Nothing atm

Consensus Items [edit]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

Discussion[edit]

NB Projects/ Kiosk?[edit]

Mark - I wanted to get back to the vending machine idea. We tossed out our vending machine. Maybe there is a simple solution we can do to store and sell little useful stuff at NB. I kind of wonder if this could be integrated ,with the kiosk project?

TJ - I will admit i have resrervations about selling stuff at NB. Even roughly keeping track of the food/drinks and things we have normalized ppl paying for with "donations", I've noticed lots of people taking lots of stuff and it goes really really fast. I know some people do donate, but practically speaking, trying to sell stuff, we are either going to have to force it to be sold, or hide it behind something like a vending machine, which ppl might not like because its not totally in line with NB values. Donations are the way bc NB is a non-profit. When people hold events, it creates more donations which is really the goal.

Mark - What do you think about the fact that various kits are sold during CHM?

AFAIK the money is a donation to NB. I think it goes straight into donation boxes, though I am not 100% sure.

I feel like we need some kind of system for donating for useful items. Also not even donating but for having useful shared items on hand.

TJ - Two questions: 1. How can we make sure NB has nice things? 2. How can we make sure people offset the costs of nice things so NB dont go broke in a couple years?

Vending machine is still out front outside the space maybe? We are unsure of the status of it.

TO do: find out the status, come up with a price for it, slap that shit on craigslist (assuming no one claims it as their project)

Mark - alternate solution for having handy items: have a locker that certain people can access. Maybe metaguild? Maybe i'll take it on as a personal project and do a pilot run

Discussion Item 2[edit]

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
