Excellence[edit | edit source]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

(What does that mean? Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.)

- Excellency is being respectful of others and the space, understanding & maintaining healthy discourse.

- anti-harassment policy, conflict resolution, decentralized ways of dealing with conflict

- conflict example: moving spaces. Consensus items, membership, often two camps, finding compromise,

- dont do unless you have consensus of everyone around.

- chance to have dialoug

- if conflict gets heated, ask someone to disengage and ask for mediation for 3rd party

Short announcements and events[edit | edit source]

Library Futures wants to host a meeting at the space on Wednesday, Jan 18, using one of the classrooms during the day. Should be low key, ~10 people, they're going to give the space a donation for it. I think all NB needs is if someone can be there on the 18th to let them in around noon. And maybe clear off the tables in front area or electronics room upstairs. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/January18LibraryEvent

2. Global Game Jam is coming up! January 30th - Feb 5th. Details to come!

Guilds[edit | edit source]

- Guild: sub organizations, interest groups, info on website, discord, claim ownership to aspect of space as a group, similar to a working group (task force), guild more long term/ permenant on a topic

- Defined by resources maintained and people that compose them

- grab a friend and make a guild

New Members/Associate Members[edit | edit source]

What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.

- everyone who comes in is a capital M member, except you cannot participate in ____ consensus

- donation = take greater care of space => Associate Membership 40/month 24/7 access, do through check list, need one sponspor

- 80/month for Full Member, ability to participate on consensus, can block contenscious things. need two sponsors

- Board on paperwork for legal reasons, not practical reasons

Financial Report[edit | edit source]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

Cash flow[edit | edit source]

November: cash flow
Donations (total) 6,274.53
Spent (total) (PG&E catchup) 21,341.96
Rent (part) (increase in April) 9,548
December: cash flow
Donations (total) 6,130.45
Spent (total) 11,208 (and sent Jan rent early)
Rent (part) (increase in April) 9,548
Net (loss) 5,078

We caught up on PG&E bills, not paid since we moved in. We're operating at a deficit, 3k to rent, PG&E

- Back pay PG&E, no interest, account transfer, no name, - 500 month higher, registering expsense to appear - need more events to bring in donations -

Spending Needs[edit | edit source]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

-suggestion: air filter for wood shop, and person to maintain

We maybe need a router? Saw someone using an innapropriate tool for a router-type use.

Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]

How's it all going

- crytocurrency donation, wallet seperated from noisebridge, dont mix with other funds, reason: disentangling from personal.

- organizational address for noisebrdige, none exists

mark: can we do the coin-op coffee machine to a Noisebridge address as a sort of pilot for the community wallet idea?

-would be on own guy's wallet unless a custodial way.

-Can set up to a payment processor, convert to dollar to NB bank account

Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]

Consensus Items [edit | edit source]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

Discussion[edit | edit source]

Music Event in February[edit | edit source]

Februrary 17th, Friday

https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Alex415_%26_Musicubes_@Noisebridge

Adriel - see last week's meeting notes for a recap of the event announcement

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP RUN THE EVENT!

-$100 min (ticket cut?) on noisebridge cut in donations if 25% is not more than that

Sources of Revenue: - sell noisebridge merch - food and drinks - tickets

-check id at door for people drinking

Some person: Per last week's meeting, another music show is happening at the space in February? IMO the cut they are offering is a bad deal for NB given that we take on all the risks of hosting, most underground clubs it's 50-50, or when up-and-coming bands play a bar show they get even less.

The $100 minimum is kind of a response to that, we've talked to some ppl in the slack about it. If you'd like the cut raised further, we can certainly talk about that. The ticket cut is also not the only source of donation money coming from the event.

Magnet: Also ppl are donating their time, energy and effort, which should count for something

Mark: I will have the person get in touch with you Adriel to continue the conversation

Fundraising/Engagement/Outreach[edit | edit source]

- Working towards going to green in finanical zone, current course not sustainable - Make clear noisebridge is not free, show appreciate - help run event

Tasks: - Community outreach to school, - Participation by sharing projects, make an inviting space - Grants for Arts, STEM,

Solution:

  • increase engagement
  • increase participation
  • classes

Other, how to engage well with NB[edit | edit source]

Problem: people drop off junk and dont do with it

C: 3-D metal pritner sold by Mark Forged: - Ask him that this is a non-profit maker space, can you donate - Will make us a uniqie space and higher end equipment. - https://markforged.com

Work Away: - place where people volunteer and take care of your space https://www.workaway.info

- Tell people who are interested in making things, - creative options, like renting out areas for events officially.

(Some talk about installing car charging equipment, power-grid project. C mentions that they have power systems experience)

Flooding in noisebridge, fixing in progress[edit | edit source]

sand bags, low hanging outlets, tarps for flood barrier construction availible taped down cables so water doesnt go over

Flood awareness: - check if water is coming through window caulk upstairs - make needs caulk, when see water coming in Keep things unplugged downstairs water from rollup gate water from backdoor mini barrier sand bags

clear sewage pipe line drain in back in emergency exit door is clogged

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
