Short announcements and events[edit]

EVENTS COMING UP! DorkBot!! - Cool event for people doing strange things with electricity. Sewing/AI group is doing a demonstration. https://www.magwest.org Jul 14th-16th, Santa Clara https://opensauce.live/ July 15th-16th, SF https://www.sundaystreetssf.com/about/ July 30th, Valencia Street

Sean: raising awareness on Sunday Streets and wants some confirmation on our status because the deadline is tomorrow Mark: Adding as a disco item Sean: Sunday Streets transfers streets into car-free spaces for a day. We want to bring noisebridge out into that to show the community

Mark: Ryan is looking for help with the Opensauce event, check on discord to help out with that

Paul: Francisco is looking for a desktop. Max: Might have an option

Excellence[edit]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (Reviewed on first Tuesday of month only)

What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!

What does Excellence mean?

Mark: To me, excellence means trying to improve oneself and the community and space around them. Excellence can mean many different things, but we have some common culture things Paul: Do even better than you should do Mark: Living harmoniously with the community that uses this space.

Remember: You aren't the one who defines your own actions as excellent.

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) TWO MINUTES MAX

Guilds[edit]

  • What are guilds - briefly describe (much like the previous section on "Excellence")

Paul: There are many different facets at Noisebridge. you can start guilds to facilitate those facets. A way to promote certain interests.

Max: very fluid

Mark: It is very excellent to join a guild because it means you are interested in helping organize and maintain things in the space.

New Members/Associate Members[edit]

What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.

Membership is not required to be present at Noisebridge or use any equipment. Two levels of membership, capital M Members are responsible for the community.

Doing memberships this week because next week is the 4th of July.

Paul: Membership means you are going to promote Noisebridge, take on more responsibility navigating conflicts, stewarding and inviting people in, and closing down the space. Closing down the space means kicking people out because they can't sleep here.

Mark: Sponsoring Nick and Paul

Mark: Paul wants to be a member for reasons stated already. Any questions for Paul? Paul, are you seeking 24hr access?

Paul: unlikely

Mark: But you are planning on stewarding the space?

Paul: I am planning on doing coworking meetups. I want to make Noisebridge a pragmatic space, with useful stuff like a phone booth. After being here for 5 years, there are a lot of cool projects that don't make it to full coolness.

Mark: 3-2-1, Paul is an associate member. CONGRATS

Mark: OK now does anybody have any questions for Nick?

Paul: What do you want to do at Noisebridge Nick?

Nick: I would like to get in easier without having to bother people.

Mark: Noting that you don't need to be a member to get access during normal hours. You just need to get a member who will renew your access every 30 days.

Mark: Do you have any cool projects?

Nick: I eventually want to make stuffed animals. But I'm doing the writing thing right now.

Mark: Any blockers? 3-2-1. Congrats Nick, you are now a member!

Financial Report (first Tuesday of month only)[edit]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

  • Monthly revenue, expenses. Big projects. Big fundraising events. Reserves in bank.
  • Any other details by those participating in handling our financials
  • The latest financial reports from the treasurer are available at https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Finances

Spending Needs[edit]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

Sean: Sunday streets has a $45 fee

Fundraising Update[edit]

How's it all going

Big C Consensus Items[edit]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if people ask. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items

Consensus Items [edit]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

Discussion[edit]

== Discussion Item 1 == Upcoming events

OpenSauce[edit]

This is event that Noisebridge will have an exhibit at. It is all with Youtube Content creators.

Mark: is there anyone here who is interested in volunteering for OpenSauce?

Sean: I am interested in helping

Ben: So volunteer how?

Mark: there are no rules, but we will have a booth. We will do Noisebridge-y things, part of it is figuring out what we are going to bring. Ideally if you can make it into some kind of demonstration, that would be great.

Ben: Can I bring the CNC?

Mark: Possibly. I have the channel on discord, please post in the channel thoughts you have and what you would like to do. Likewise there is a channel for Sunday Streets.

Mark: Sunday Streets needs a leader

Ben: I volunteer as leader! I can submit the application online later tonight. I'm wondering what kind of activities they had for last Sunday Streets.

Mark: There was a mini sewing thing. We showed off our VR thing on a computer and Elan brought an art thing.

Ben: Would it be possible to bring out a 3D printer

Mark: We would need to make sure we have a power hookup. Otherwise we are severely limited

Paul: Sunday streets slack is discussing power

Mark: Ideally doing things without power or minimally.

Ben: I'm looking at the application, we need a category. Arts & Culture?

== Discussion Item 2 == Stewardship Calendar/ "Open Hours"

Mark: TJ created a calendar for members to sign up to have "Open Hours" again. Meaning hours that people have dedicated to being at the space during and committed to watching the space and letting people in. We're not sure if we want to open slots to just members, or members and assoc. members, or to whoever we trust.

Paul: it's hard to know who to steward, sometimes it happens in retrospect.

Mark: What is the best way to always have coverage of ppl at NB who are responsible.

Max: the thing I'm consufused about, there should always be an associate member here already. I think it would make sense to only allow members, or associate members.

Mark: I agree.

- TJ showed up

TJ: Hi

Paul: Could we have an employee of the month/day sort of thing?

Mark: Here is an availability sign-ups form: https://whenisgood.net/y7brzfi

Kudos / To Dos[edit]

Get Toilet Paper for NB! (Get cash from Mark)

What's going on with locker audit?

Mark: Elan is in charge of that. I think he has delayed it slightly.

Paul: wants to put in a phone booth. Bringing in Coffee, we accept whole bean coffee donations.

Set up snack and drink shop at the bar!

Max: we used to have a big frige, but it was loud and took a lot of energy. Mark: We should get a new one that is like that old one but new and good.

Paul: Fix bluetooth antaenna on upstairs stereo

MAX: cleaning up wood shop, and building out some things to help facilitate tool organization. next thing on my mind: wheel cart to clean up shelfs to move things out of the way.

Paul: more lighting upstairs.

Paul: kudos to whoever brought all that sanitizer

Mark: Kudos to Paul for hosting the meeting Paul: Kudos to Mark for taking notes

TJ: when someone applies for membership, it's a good sign that things are turning (for the good).

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
