Its like a party and a display of a very unique piece of art. Usually we do it once every 2 months. Typically happens on a saturday. We'll get more details as we get closer.

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (On first Tuesdays, seek a few definitions. Other Tuesday, give a 1-3 sentence summary.)

Our one rule is to be excellent to each other. We've evolved a sent of rules that we agree on.

Help create the space that you would like other noisebridgers to use.

See the wiki page

One of the rules, is to not use the space as your home, not sleep in it, not take exclusionary command of individual parts of the space

What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence!

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) TWO MINUTES MAX More approachable & specific guidelines, is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.

It starts with de-escelation.

Helpful guidelines on the wiki.

Brief Kudos[edit]

Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.

  • Kudos to Elle and Mark, for all the grant work they've been doing, late into the night, right up to deadlines. And to zoda for the support
  • (Judah) Kudos to everyone who was here before the meeting started. Everyone was so helpful in getting me set up to do what I wanted to do.
  • To Stone & Brandon, who continued or re-ignited the woodshop wall discussion, and to JD & Ken who are working on it.
  • To Ken, for fixing the plumbing in the bathroom, the sink.
  • Elle - to everyone on Friday who contributed to the grant application - Stone, Mark, John, & others

  • What are guilds - briefly describe (much like the previous section on "Excellence")

Active examples

  • Laser
  • CNC
  • woodshop
  • Sewing
  • Totally secret cabal of space maintainers (not secret, it is exclusive)

New Members/Associate Members[edit]

What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.

  • Associate members - Jathin
  • Members - Ken

    • Ken was blocked for 8-12 months
    • Loren, I appreciate Ken's moderating influence on night time culture.
    • Ken (4th week, of 4 for final assocaite to membership)
    • JD blocked initially because Ken applied for membership immediately.
    • Ken, has invested in a wholistic way. Taking out the trash, but even more, organizing other people in the space.

Financial Report (first Tuesday of month only)[edit]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

we have about 40 something k in the savings account and a CD of about 140k or so. Will be locked until July, Coinbase - we have ? bitcoin

We invest (e.g. into CD=Certificate of Deposit) funds we don't forecast to need, in the coming 3 months (financial quarter), ignoring expected donations. So we have plenty of liquid funds. Don't worry about it too often.

Spending Needs[edit]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

Fundraising Update[edit]

How's it all going

Big C Consensus Items[edit]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present.

Consensus Items [edit]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

Consensus Item #1[edit]

Week 1 of 2.

$1600 consensus for fire sprinklers.

Consensus Item #2[edit]

  • Big M Member sponsor, for a Membership applicant or Associate Membership applicant, needs to be present at the meeting, online or in-person, to attest to their sign off live during the meeting, and speak to applicant's excellence.

(discussion item) 0: fundraising / grants[edit]

From/Raised by: Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic:

Filled out a small business grant app for $50k, will hear results in april

Filling out more applications - we need pictures of cool things people have been making at NB!

Stone - do you need a photographer? I have a nice camera

Mark - look in the #look-what-i-made channel in discord, get ppl's consent and source some pics from there!

Still waiting to hear on Security Grant

Grants - in #sewing channel, #fundraising. in Discord. Org in sf that specializes in foundations.

Discussion Items[edit]

(discussion item) 1:[edit]

From/Raised by: jd Seeking: funding necessary? Amount? On topic: wood shop partition/door improvements

    • Plumbing for new sprinklers - for partitioned hallway. $1600 consensus
    • Partition walls ~ hallway.
    • ventilation. - out back (the
  • door improvements - $14k, too tight

Ken talked to a plumber, got price of $1600 for 2 additional sprinkler heads. said he'd match any better price.

JD: Why 2 heads?

He said for that hallway we'll need 2.

I trust my architect, but whatever. It's cheap.

Before the meeting, Stone, Mark, and Brandon talked about designing the wall itself.

It's a partition, not a wall. We are not running electrical *in* the wall. There may be other safe, code-compatible ways to provide some electrical in the new sections.

Stone says a rough estimate might be 2k or so for the first partition wall.

When the plumbing inspector comes to sign off on the sprinkler heads, itd be great if we weren't right in the middle of construction.

Plumber says within a week after estimate is agreed to , he can do it.

New sprinklers -> two walls -> ventilation

Outside will is covered in asbestos tile. Ventilation is going to be a challenge.

(discussion item) 2:[edit]

From/Raised by: Mark Seeking: opinions/ small c consensus On topic: Membership process

- All-hours access, versus member. Separation.

(discussion item) 3:[edit]

From/Raised by: Jonathan Seeking: advice On topic: jewelry-making. Action items: create a discord channel

   guage interest, build a coalition.

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
