Introductions

Mark - secretary, talks nonstop Gavin - software engineer, from Monterey, new to SF as of last year, excited to see what NB is up to and to help out Vikram - second meeting, been hangin at the space a bit, want to contribute more, from Bangor, India, and then Cinncinatti OH Ellen - hayward, sewing and fundraising Julius - mostly been working in the machine shop and with Spacebridge, Sundays at 5pm (Loren - working in the corner)

Short announcements and events

Sewing 101 this weekend Sunday! Making stuffies for spacebridge! Gonna give them parachutes and throw them off buildings!

Accessible sewing cabinet is finally here and is going over against the backside wall of 3d printing room in the hackitorium.

3 outstanding grants applications. Door grant is waiting for one doc. Stellar foundation has blocked on the other two.

Writer's workshop fundraiser, doing reading of prose! Next Fiday the 31st!

Cafe Chile Lindo on 16th st invited us to come for live jazz every tuesday after the meeting.

Excellence

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (On first Tuesdays, seek a few definitions. Other Tuesday, give a 1-3 sentence summary.)

Excellence means to join the "Evil Frog Happy Hour", 5-6 PM Fridays. Which may or may not actually be a real event. The point is be silly and fun and not annoying.

How does noisebridge handle certain conflicts?

Moof: took over spacebridge sunday for Elan, I'm not super knowledgeable or informed on the topic, but I generally know whats up enough to at least lead the meeting. I have less experience and investment than Elan. There was a person or two at the meetup, one sent a woman participant a long DM with amourous attentions. Woman responded asking to not be contacted again.

Main thing I feel I did wrong, was that I as person leading the meeting did not go over how to handle harassment at NB with the participants before the meeting started. I failed to provide useful information.

Elle: You did do a really great job holding the meetup actually, so don't think otherwise. Most everyone there was new, save for a couple ppl. Lots of non-regulars. The people who were new kind of took over the meeting. One in particular with his extensive knowledge base was kind of dominating and acted a bit condescending to me. I was getting upset. Then there was some rude guy who used the word "pussy" in the rude sense. And those weren't even the problem people vis a vis the woman. Which you actually handled well, Moof.

Mark: Did you talk to these people after the fact, Moof?

Moof, no, but writing up a bit of a "report" of what happened atm. Will talk to you in private Mark.

Loren: there are 3 primary audiences worth considering here: complainant, subject of complaint, the larger community/witnesses

To the subject of complaint want to say: spend some time away from NB, we agree with concerns raised, it made person uncomfortable to the extent they felt the need to bring it up at least

Moof: Who would do this communication? Someone on safety council? In this case, Elan, made the call in the bravespace channel.

Where are we with Stellar foundation?

They have changed the process multiple times in the course of the last few months.

We missed the last deadline bc we needed someone who was not me applying for the second grant. They need two separate applicants for the two different grants (party grant and educational program [rustlang] grant)

There was maybe a breakdown in communication on getting someone else to fill out the other grant application.

The opportunity has shifted a lot, now it is 15k$ initially, 35k$ secondary.

Next deadline is June the 9th.

Any guarantee that these amounts could not change by then?

Elle: not at all. Anything could happen.

The party grant however, changed hugely in the course of the application. They decided it need to be a contract and not a grant. Needs to be a contract with someone, bc NB doesn't want to be in any contracts.

Then it became about how the party should look.

Dana wants to know if we'll have some kind of tech related thing.

Moof: Set up the open sauce booth stuff again for the party to show it off.

Okay, so we don't have a solid idea of a date that we'll get an answer on that party contract by.

It is suggested that we move forward with planning on the assumption that we don't rely on Stellar Foundation. And then if we do get the money, its a nice surprise!
