Short announcements and events[edit | edit source]

Julius - We need somebody with a truck to move a sewing machine from Hayward to NB. If you can come out tonight you will get a full bag of oranges. It is only 25 minutes away!

Mark - We are trying to plan a party for fundraising for NB. Get on the discord server and check out the NB-Quinceanera channel under events. Put your name on the WhenToMeet. We want to host it as soon as possible because as part of this party we would like to have a project pitching event for potential MakerFaire projects. THat's only 4 months away so we want to get a project approved ASAP. Elle - This is NB's 15th year. November is the 16th year so if we want to do 15 we need to do it soon! Even if you're brand new consider showing up to a planning meeting! Mark - Saturday or Sunday this week most likely - we will figure it out.

Elle - We want to host a party this week (Friday) for DC Tech Week. Find me on discord (ElleWrites) and coordinate!

Excellence[edit | edit source]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (On first Tuesdays, seek a few definitions. Other Tuesday, give a 1-3 sentence summary.)

What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!

Alex - Mutual respect for each other. Cleaning up after yourself is excellent. Sleeping in the space is not excellent. I used to volunteer with Tinkering School. A big rule was to respect the space and respect each other.

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit | edit source]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) TWO MINUTES MAX More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.

Brief Kudos[edit | edit source]

Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.

Aaron who organized a clean-up notice system for the bathrooms

Meta-Kudos to Elan for trial-running a Kudos coin system

Guilds[edit | edit source]

  • What are guilds - briefly describe (much like the previous section on "Excellence")

New Members/Associate Members[edit | edit source]

What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.

Financial Report (first Tuesday of month only)[edit | edit source]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

  • Monthly revenue, expenses. Big projects. Big fundraising events. Reserves in bank.
  • Any other details by those participating in handling our financials
  • The latest financial reports from the treasurer are available at https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Finances

Spending Needs[edit | edit source]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]

How's it all going

Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items

Consensus Items [edit | edit source]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

Discussion Items[edit | edit source]

Template... [num]: [topic-short][edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic:

(discussion item) 1: [topic][edit | edit source]

From/Raised by:Sergio Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: Signage or other communication to encourage people to keep the space clean

-Leave it cleaner than you found it mantra

Before we add some signs, we should clarify the main points - is the patio smoke free? Elle - On the other sign of the wall is the smoking area JD - aside from state law or whatever, we don't want the first impression when people come here to be a face full of smoke. This has been a problem on Tuesdays. Besides being annoying, it has been scientifically proven to be unhealthy.

Elle - As someone who often calls people out and brings attention to things, it is super uncomfortable to confront a group of people when you're alone. And I can handle that in small doses, but I can't handle it on a regular basis.

Sergio - I would like to talk about more in general. Two examples - I was here yesterday and worked all night. If I wasn't there last night, all the trash would still be here today. I organize the trash on Saturday and separate things because everyone mixes things together. But last night the trash was full but there was nobody else to bring them out. Maybe people could be in charge of a specific action. I was having a hard time with a person who was making a mess with the tools. I talked to him and explained that this place is a blessing if you're an artist, and entrepeneur etc. so please work with me to make this place better. So sometimes you have to be a bit rude.

JD - I was going to ask if you could write some things down. Give us something in writing and we can help edit it.

Sergio - I will have my wife help out with that and make something to send you.

Ryan - I'm still trying to learn how to use things. So for example I was in the 3D printing room and swept up. I feel like that gives you a good on-ramp to learn the space and understand the condition of the machines without just charging ahead.

Elle - In traditional apprenticeships people would have their apprentices hang out and clean up. The benefit of doing that is you're hanging around and meeting folks. You could meet the teacher of the laser class and get pointers that maybe they couldn't tell you during the class.

Sergio - The sewing room is normally locked right?

Elle - The door is locked, but you can reach out in the discord and someone will let you in, or we can get you the code. We ask that you do not use the industrial sewing machines unless you are certified

Mike - Does anyone know how to use the knitting machine?

Elle -

(discussion item) 2: [topic][edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Elle Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: Build IRL Event on Thursday

Elle - we're going to talk a lot about fundraising, especially with our old members

(discussion item) 3: [topic][edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Julius Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: Door Grant/Sound wall status

JD - sprinkler heads are installed so we can go ahead. There are drawings so that it is up to code. We need to move everything out of the corridor (44 inches width) and also 18 inches for wheelchair users. Ken has the skillset to lead this. We have discussed that. NO ELECTRICAL IN THE WALLS so we don't need them inspected.

Ken may come up with the list of materials needed. Let's chat with him about that.

Elle - For the CNC machine, can it sit near where the sewing machine is now?

Mark - I would encourage folks to join my effort to do a consensus-based master arrangement plan. I started a design doc in DrawIO. It's in the space maintainers channel. Let's keep talking there.

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
