Short announcements and events[edit | edit source]
- 60-second description per item in bulletpoint.
- Copy-paste any pre-announcements for the upcoming meeting from Announcements.
- After announcements, copy them to the past Announcements list. Retire any from the Next Meeting list that aren't marked ONGOING.
- (See https://www.noisebridge.net/ and https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Category:Events for events, and welcoming people)
Elle - 1) We have a sewing class lined up for friday. It will cover the industrial sewing machines (serger, cover-stitch). More of an exploration than an actual class. Certification will likely be on sunday but you will probably need a class to pass that.
2) There will be another class on sewing (small) parachutes on Sunday too (two hours). Some time later we will go to a tall building and throw things off to see what survives.
3) There is an accessible sewing cabinet next to the industrial knitting machine. Next weekly meeting we will have a mending event where we try to fix things that are torn etc.
Mark - Look out in the Maker Faire channel for a planning meeting. We will try to have a meeting ASAP to discuss what we will do. Everyone and anyone is welcome - we want people with a diverse array of interests to participate.
There is a film screening on Thursday that a NBer is coming to town to host - United States of Poetry, Thursday night at 7:00.
Workshop on the 11th called Build the Contemplarium - in a secular society we don't have spaces for events like exist in religious societies. This is looking to create that missing space. Not a generic third space but a "ritual space".
To reiterate - Cloud is looking for a 5MoF CoHost!
Spacebridge is vaguely planning to launch another balloon in ~3 weeks, weather permitting. Keep an eye out for an exact date!
Excellence[edit | edit source]
Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (On first Tuesdays, seek a few definitions. Other Tuesday, give a 1-3 sentence summary.)
What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!
Harper - Doing your best to not harm others with your actions
Mark - we like to frame it in a way that relates to this space (and community) in particular. When uses of the space conflict with each other, Excellence is using effective communication to resolve that conflict.
Elle - we are talking a lot about spirituality this month, and excellenece in a very general sense is about spirit - a sense of the choices you make to bring the best of your spirit to an environment. It's being kind to people around you, being forgiving of the faults of others and forgiving of your own faults.
Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit | edit source]
Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) TWO MINUTES MAX More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.
Brief Kudos[edit | edit source]
Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.
Julius - to Azamat (and Nick + Ryan) for holding down the bar.
Mark - generally everyone who helped out with the party. Eric for food, Julius and Loren for helping cleanup with me afterwards!
EHR - kudos to Travis - made a noisebridge URL shortenr
Guilds[edit | edit source]
- What are guilds - briefly describe (much like the previous section on "Excellence")
New Members/Associate Members[edit | edit source]
What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.
Financial Report (first Tuesday of month only)[edit | edit source]
Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.
4688 + maybe 2k through venmo + maybe a few hundred in benevity matches
expenses 10k in rent + maybe 2k in utils
- Monthly revenue, expenses. Big projects. Big fundraising events. Reserves in bank.
- Any other details by those participating in handling our financials
- The latest financial reports from the treasurer are available at https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Finances
Spending Needs[edit | edit source]
Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.
Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]
How's it all going
Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]
Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items
Consensus Items [edit | edit source]
Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

== (discussion item) 1: [topic] =(announcement) tour bullet points posting From/Raised by:jd Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic:safety meeting tomorrow night? JD - Tomorrow night is the 1st Wednesday of the month. Last month's was probably the most productive meeting I've ever been a part of at noisebridge. We had a google doc open that we could all use to hammer out bullet points for tour-giving signage. I'm hoping we can do that tomorrow night for what should be discussed during tours.
Elle - It was a great meeting. The safety announcement was edited and we should make an effort to use it.
Mark - Are you going to consider the result from tomorrow to be essentially the working document?
JD - Yes. Last time we said let's not print it out, let's bring it to the next meeting. But I don't know how useful that was. It will still be an evolving document though.
Elle - The new best version is on discord.
Mark - My opinion as someone who can't attend these meetings but wants them to succeed is to have a final agenda item of printing out the final document and posting it. Are you co-hosting online?
JD - Yes [7:00 PM]
(discussion item) 2: [topic][edit | edit source]
From/Raised by: Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: Meetup/Events on Wiki/Calendar
We still don't have a single main calendar where all the NB events are. Partly because we are an anarchist space and we don't force people to tell us what they're doing. That's not a complaint, but we still need a central place
Jonathan - Could we use google calendar?
Elle - I think there has been resistance to that in the past. But we do have the wiki, and meetup, and Luma has turned out to be amazing.
Jonathan - hacker dojo has like a calendar TV at their front door. Momo - I'm working on something like that right now for NB. The idea is to have TVs in every location where people have activities, and we can have location specific calendars and information. I started making the application, and later I talked to Travis (python teacher) and suggested they work on it as a meetup project for their group.

From/Raised by: Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: Quinceanera Party Debrief / Postmortem
Elle: numbers I've been hearing about the party have been a bit varied.
Give Butter (silent auction) should be about $2k. I added up all the purchase amounts
Lu.ma had ticket sales: total amount when party started was 660.
Also had ticket sales from Meetup. 8 ppl paid = $400
Money came in at the bar and front tables. Food, drink, raffles ticket sales.
Expenses: Raffle, Food, Drink, Dancer
To Do: Get receipts out to people who donated who require them
Overall, very fun party, everyone had a great time. Excellent work! Generated lots of good will!
Lots of complications with raffling vis a vis CA law. Much easier to do silent auctions and other stuff. Maybe shouldn't do raffles in the future possibly.
Eric if we can implement a swag store on noisebridge dot net, and have stuff conmstantly rotating there, that would be great. maybe a cool swag box that members get for their contribution?
Loren mentions threadless store's existence. It does have some issues.
To go back to controlling downside of other potential large events. Partner with other orgs that don't necessarily have space, but could contribute organization, funds, etc to the table for us.
Julius: still emphasizes how valuable pushing for the regular smaller events and asking for donations at such events are. Classes, meetups etc
As we talk about things we hope to adopt more in the near future. Talked with Mitch Altman recently. Things that help get people contributing to the space: projects they can be invested in and contribute to. Its a way for noisebridge to give back to people.

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]
Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
