Short announcements and events[edit | edit source]

  • 60-second description per item in bulletpoint.
  • Copy-paste any pre-announcements for the upcoming meeting from Announcements.
  • After announcements, copy them to the past Announcements list. Retire any from the Next Meeting list that aren't marked ONGOING.
  • (See https://www.noisebridge.net/ and https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Category:Events for events, and welcoming people)
  • Zack - Weekend of sept 2829 noisebridge will be an open studio. Artists that are not from here can apply to show their work also encourage people at Noisebridge to display their stuff. Won't necessarily shut down and clean up but will be doing Noisebridge and this (11am - 5pm) okzack on discord
  • Sergio - Ken to announce that starting tomorrow to start the wall to separate out the woodshop and the hackitorium. May also want to discuss a lot of space in the woodshop being used for storage.
  • Sergio - maybe we can share jobs to clean the patio or take items out. Was the last one here and took the bins out but may not have been here and able to take this. Maybe have volunteers for specific weeks so there is some responsiblity around taking it out. It's a good way to contribute back to the space. Can take Monday nights and Thursday nights.

Excellence[edit | edit source]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (Give a quick, 1-3 sentence summary.)

What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence! - Zack - assume as a default the person intends well when you're in a situation. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Take a breadth and a sec before responding - Elly - Treat people the way you want to be treated

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit | edit source]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.

- J.D. - One example, keeping people in a room by blocking a doorway - Zack - Keeping the yellow brick road clear

Brief Kudos[edit | edit source]

Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you. - Zack - Last week Loren took out the trash and the trash bins for everyone. - Loren - To Kevin and another person to help take out trash at the infra meetup on Mondays - Loren - Kudos to Zack for running the Saturday clean up. Good to get in the habit of once or twice a month to clean up space

Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items

Consensus Items [edit | edit source]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item or can be reserved for the discussion section of the meeting.

Discussion Items[edit | edit source]

It is recommended to post items for discussion ahead of time at https://pad.riseup.net/p/nbmeeting. (Check that the template for the meeting is in place already, and that last week's notes have been moved to the wiki, of course)

Item prompts should follow the format: From/Raised by: [your name here] Seeking [decision/outcome/advice/something else] On topic: [topic]

== Discussion Item 1 ==woodshop wall construction and preparation From/Raised by:loren Seeking : On topic:

We agreed we want a parition wall to help with noise and dust between the woodshop area and the hackitorium. We agreed to spend money on building the wall. Ken has agreed to do that. May be able to borrow scaffolding from a space near by and the foam panels as a part of the wall. This is not a load bearing wall just a wall that will fill some space and will not be a fire hazard. Also have adjusted sprinkler heads and added more in anticipation. Will likely want help in cleaning stuff off. Ken and others have expressed how much space John's items are taking in the wood shop area. There is also a large boat project as well.
JD - may be time to ask people to not bring big projects
Loren - Spoke to them about not leaving it limbo for long period of time
Zack - Maybe ask about intentions about long term storage and maybe work with them since it's so large
JD - Are there events using the hackitorium? Moving items into the space for wall construction could make issues for events
Loren - We have had cleanouts that have moved more than this maybe we can do that on a weekend
Zack - has a how to banksy event on Sunday and would like help moving items if there are items that are stored on the patio. The space will have lots of spray painting going on. (event is from 3-4pm)
If anyone sees Ken please let him know that it'd be nice not to store items on the patio
Loren - Can we put this on a discord thread? Notes can also be shared
Zack To start thread in Hacktorium discord channel for wall construction project
   Thread -> https://discord.com/channels/720514857094348840/1278182696945979484/1278182700217536512

== Discussion Item 2 ==periodic maintenance From/Raised by:Sergio Seeking On topic:

Loren - few options on how to coordinate on this
     - Discord can have a discussion thread or possibly a channel
     - Long term can then end up in the wiki
     - Something in person can be helpful to encourage people to interact with
     - Any other items that could help?
   Sergio - Likes that
   JD - Need
     - List of tasks
       - Cleaning bathroom
       - taking out trash
       - etc.
     - Then people can sign up for tasks
Sergio - Good to do our part and take out the trash, clean things etc. It would be good to see people engage with and take care of Noisebridge
   - Loren - Bounty Board could be a good place to go and add tasks
   From the reboot
     - Closed the space down for a week to do some things to reboot the space
     - Bounty board was organizing what was going on
   - Elly - Other items like 3d printers
   - Loren - Usually let groups that manage them (guilds) to handle them
   - Loren - today on the home page there is a purple box on Noisebridge.net that has a link to the Discord
   - JD - What do peole think is a way to organize space maintence
     - We have the secret kabal space maintenance channel
     - Would be nice to have a matrix or such on site so people can volunteer for a space
   - Zack - Would be nice for newer people to see what they can do and volunteer
   - JD - Does anyone want to take this on?
   - Loren - We should get a large chart and then we can work on it iteratively
   - JD - bounty board what is done?
   - JD - Some will stay after the meeting ot sign on and do specific tasks

== Discussion Item 3 == Smoking From/Raised by: Zack Seeking On topic:

There are some volatile fluids out on the patio with a rag in the top. Which is not great for fire safety.
Is it ok to ask people to not smoke on the patio. Also a bit of a gauntlet because people have to walk through the smoke and experience issues with second hand effects of the smoke. How can we discuss enforcing this?
Asking to please leave in this scenario can be difficult.
Are there alternatives like putting a large sign or smoke detector? Are there ways to handle that?
Sergio - have talk about this a few times. We know who is doing this. Let's talk to them and ask them not to. Had to eat the meal outside and had to talk to some members about this issue.
JD - can we banksy up a sign?
Zack - yes we can. Also there is additional littering from butts and joint ends, which is not nice
Elly - We do have keep clean signs here in front of us in the hackitorium
Loren - Could be nice to say in public why your doing things e.g. "I am leaving becasue people are smoking". Helps other people understand that they're not alone in feeling the frustration. May need some coalition building.
JD - Recently changed the code on the front door because the code had gotten out and people were using the front porch as a smoking area.
One of the things the safety committee is working on is a set of bullet points to say during the tour. We should add no smoking to the tour. Like we tell people note to cook food in the kitchen area.
Zack - It'd be great to have those as bullet points to help with tours
JD - Have had some documents that we've started using, like what we said at the opening to the meeting. Want to eventually get these to the wiki space.

== Discussion Item 4 == How to sell art? From/Raised by: Zack Seeking On topic: - How do we want to do this? - JD - Elan can help since he set up the silent auction during the party.
