Discussion Items[edit | edit source]

Discussion Item 1[edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Elle Seeking: at next meeting, proposal, discussion On topic: Having a separate meeting time just for new member intro/joining

Discussion Item 2[edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Max Seeking decision/advice On topic: running a cyber security meetup in October

Pacific Hackers - Runs events for Cybersecurity - Monthly meetup in the SV hacker dojo - Looking for places to speakers, tutorial events

We hosted stuff on how to hack a router, in person and people would learn to crack the password Had another event on how to stay anonymous online.

"I think this would be the perfect place to host it" Max is happy to do all the organzing, just wants advice from NB folks.

think... Oct 3, 5, 12 or the last sat of Oct. Prefers saturdays.

Max wants to make sure there is on clashing on space utilization. Max is interested in recurring meetings, but it doesn't need to be here in this space every month. The vibe is to be a "talk" or a "workshop. usually do 2 to 5 oclock. A few hrs.

Q: how many attendees? A: Usually 20 to 30 at hacker dojo

Julius, that seems like on the upper range of what we usually host fyi Elle, Q: is there any concern from the activities from the authorities? A: Don't worry, everything we do will be white hat (meaning allowed by authorities, and only hacking test equipement). Speakers will be screened. Our group has no history of issues with safety or the law. Happy to discuss if further questions! We won't be messing with NB wifi.

Action: A member of NB will follow up on this matter.

Max Q: Wants to check with the main list of events to make sure there's no conflict.

--

Loren would love to help hosting, and making sure the space is used properly. Elle suggests to meet with another member who has done the process of hosting a meeting before.

--

Action: we should clarify that only big M Members can sponsor new members

Discussion Item 3[edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: CC Seeking: answer, advice On topic: question of whether carbon fiber is an allowed material in the NB laser, if carbon fiber has ever been cut at NB w/ the laser

Elle: came up earlier. Was told at that time that carbon fiber is not allowed in the CC. There are arguments against it, in the laser, since we could have better insulation.

Q: Carbon fiber, which variety? Fabric? Pre-preg? pre-preg might be A: All of these are f

CC Q: Has anyone ever used it before? Asking to understand if there is any risk at all? Not personally interested in cutting CF herself, but rather that she is concerned if there might be residue in there that might contaminate what she is working on.

Elle: JD or Paolo might have more info, check the #safety channel or #laser

Loren: There might be other spaces that might also have a laser cutter available btw Elle: might also be able to contact double union there might be other processes to remove the CF residue btw Loren/Julius: We should document the details of the CF cutting on discord

Loren: No epoxy CF. It's poisionous and sticky. Just laser things.

Loren: Thanks for bringing this up!

Discussion Item 4[edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Mark Seeking: advice, temperature check, possibly decision On topic: space layout

Background: There is a design doc, it's got rectangles and layouts. Loren: Has played with Apple indoor maps. So that we can setup something that we can have something similar to airports Max: How do we want to have things updated? Things were not alawyas up to date in the past, and in sync with reality. Loren: Github/Datafocused revision control? Elle: I think it would be useful for inventory and machines, would help keep stock of things. Loren: How does RFID based vs pass the code based? -> take this offline Loren: is there a way for this to be small and gamified? Mark: Rhino is easy... Elle: Someone has taken a 3D photo of all of NB, and Julius has a token Mark: Very interested in gamifying things! Let me know how Cloud: Nav2, Facebook has worked on something similar. Julius: Have you considered using onshape? It doesn't require people to install anything... Mark: Citeria, anyone can hop in and use it...

Shihao: One suggestion: 3 Part System:

   Items,Totes,Loctaions
Items MUST always go back to their tote, but totes can move locations if someone ones, but ideally not frequently changing locations. Don't attempt to document where items go, but instead document where the totes go. And always return items to totes.

Mark: Is interested in also making sure that he has buy-in so that time and effort is not wasted. Julius: please have more compost bins. Right now it is too much work. Loren: For sure, Please keep them small/moderately... It will rot, attract mice.

Mark: Come to cleanup and organization Friday! Always clean up your own work too, otherwise you may hurt yourself and others.

Some parties have been misusing the woodshop, and are working on mediating.

Loren: We want more consistency with trash cans. These stations can have a broom, dustpan, swiffer, etc.

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!

  • Elle: Suggestion on fun things?
  • Mark: Can someone make an excellent TLDR to post in discord?
  • Loren: 3D printed handles add!
  • Shihao: Take Photos and Finish the Welding Documentation
  • AZ: Clean more stuff up
  • Elle: Post some classes and fundraisers, and do some more planning
  • Loren - We have food! Wants to update the price list
  • Mark: Editing a Wiki Page or two, look into some printer situations
  • Farley: ---
  • Izzo: Learn where the cleaning supplies are located
  • Nat: do lots of work in illustrator & rhino, gonna research a shared vectored platform
  • Zach: updat elocks with loren, 3d printer. New artists for show
  • Max: Putting away macbooks that he was trying to install
