Elle: Nanowrimo - national novel writing month - write-ins every Friday in November! Write 50k words in the month of November! Many people do it all over the world! Many cool books have been published as a result! A write-in is a little event where people get together and write!
Mark: I'm looking to start up a tabletop games meetup. Looking at maybe once a month, on a Friday tentatively. But more details will be posted soon.
Julius: @ Point Pinole. Planning to do a launch of a balloon on Saturday the 2nd, around 10 or 11 am. Check in on #spacebridge discord channel to make sure its definitely still happening. We need at least 50% visibility to actually do it.
Noah and Julius are talking about getting circuit hacking "monday" back on in some capacity. We have something like some kits already. Still trying to figure out a day!
Excellence[edit | edit source]
Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (On first Tuesdays, seek a few definitions. Other Tuesday, give a 1-3 sentence summary.)
What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!
Excellence requires among many other things, talking up, as well as listening. Communication is very important. If you see something, share it! If you want to change something, vocalize it! If you see someone potentially doing something dangerous/unexcellent, engage or get help! Sometimes ppl don't want to hear things that suggest changes in how they do something. It can be taken as undue/harsh criticism, but we must try our best to frame whatever suggestions we have for people as constructively and respectfully as possible. Respect is an important ingredient on all sides.
Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit | edit source]
Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) TWO MINUTES MAX More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.
Brief Kudos[edit | edit source]
Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.
Elle: great event on Saturday! 100 people came by and lots of good pictures of NB looking great! Yay Judy, Olga and the writers!
Mark: addendum to that - kudos to Zach, working on the space, and getting it nice for the Godot meetup as well! We had a lot of ppl here on Saturday as well and it was awesome!
Would also give Kudos to Brian B for cleanup of music room and surrounding area!
Zach: thank you Elle for helping us get a table for 11 people after the Godot meetup
Guilds[edit | edit source]
- What are guilds - briefly describe (much like the previous section on "Excellence")
Music Guild really ought be a thing so we can maintain a transfer of knowledge around the resources in that space!
New Members/Associate Members[edit | edit source]
What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.
Financial Report (first Tuesday of month only)[edit | edit source]
Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.
- Monthly revenue, expenses. Big projects. Big fundraising events. Reserves in bank.
- Any other details by those participating in handling our financials
- The latest financial reports from the treasurer are available at https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Finances
Spending Needs[edit | edit source]
Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.
Elle: Sewing has stuff it needs to purchase. We had consensed a while back and now we just need to organize the purchase. Would like to tale care of that this week.
Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]
How's it all going
Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]
Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items
Consensus Items [edit | edit source]
Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.
Make Space at Noisebridge with a Sewing Yard Sale https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14JgKwG_oYCi5PiIuemD-m6NoVgKBqMrLnAYrKiNw8Uc/edit?usp=sharing
Brian:
Singer – Industrial Sewing Machine A: Options: 1a: To be sold 2b: Added to the sewing room
Elle: Beautiful machine, but doesnt have a safety stop. Could buy a servepro motor that would stop it when you let your foot off the pedal. I'm not sure if that would solve the issue of safety?
Julius: I know we have a fair # of motors areound the space?
Elle: Those are clutch motors - not the right kind. Currently we have about 5 industrial straight stitch machines, we only need like 2.
Brian: I find that we have several machines that are industrial - i only find the Juki the only one that has the power to go through materials i and others would like to use. When we only have 1 (1 is often down), that is tough. I do believe we have space for the Singer/another industrial machine. If you give me some more time, I could work on the motor thing and try to get that working. I'd like to do more research and see what we can do.
r.e. The room generally; we need to look around that other side of the room and the clutter.
Elle: We have a plan for that side. It involves replacing our domestic machines with new ones. And we are going to be moving the machine that is currently behind the singer into the room. That one is a good strong machine too. I don't know what materials you are sewing. Either of the two jukis can sew through just about anything. The reason one is down is not because of overuse but because of ignorant use.
Brian I think we should still not sell it.
Elle: Even if we don't sell it as part of the sale, I think we should still remove it from noisebridge. It poses a safety hazard.
Mark: I propose we find a place to store it outside of noisebridge and that you let me and Brian work on moving it while we keep the conversation going and try to figure out what to do about it.
Elle: If the sewing guild is not willing to accept the machine, how does Noisebridge handle it?
---
Julius I want to address the sale aspect. Not sure Yard Sale is the most effective way?
Elle: "yard sale" is just a shorthand term. We'll be posting each machine online in various listings. Gonna try to get serious buyer interest.
Julius: Is there a good time for the sewing guild to meet about this?
Elle: TBD. The consensus item ends this week so we may not have time to meet before then.
Mark: It doesn't have to end this week. We can agree to rewrite the consensus item etc.
Elle: (paraphrasing) That will push the timeline back to Nov, Dec, and I don't want to be doing that then.
Mark: Is there a consesus among interested parties (wrt sewing resources) about what items are going to be sold? I.e. do you feel we have given people enought time to have their voices heard?
Elle: That's the concensus process. Brian's comments about the Singer will knock the Singer out. ... We mentioned that we want to make purchases since April, and in order to do that we need to move some things out. First we will do some repairs and maintainance, then get them out of there. We have a set of steps, and we can delay it, but I'm not sure what that will accomplish
Mark: What I'm asking for is a way to dynamically adjust based on new information.
Okay, 2 weeks notice, posted to discord for all items intended to be removed/sold. So people can have a chance to speak up.
No one blocks. Consensed.

From/Raised by: Seeking: decision On topic: Music Room
Musical Instrument – Preexisting Hammond Organ A: Options: 1a: To be donated 2b: To be sold Julius - someone in the community had been using it and enjoyed it - Caleb. Would prefer to give him preference.
Elle - know some people otherwise who may be interested who have been to NB and used it but are not necessarily "noisebridgers"
Julius - is it a space issue or a two of the same thing deal?
Brian - kind of both, yeah. The old organ has a volume issue anyway. Another issue - it doesnt plug into a moxing board or any amplified stereo/ similar devices.
Mark - Have Caleb throw a number at us. Than we can research and see if its good for us.
(discussion item) 2: [topic][edit | edit source]
From/Raised by: Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: Ridwell – Recycling Company
A: $18 dollars per month Brian proposes we use this co. to recycle various materials that our neighborhood recycling co doesn't do for us. Wants to spend a couple days a week cleaning and getting stuff staged for this. Elle: Super awesome but I am concerned about it a bit. On the one hand - clean bathrooms == GREAT. On the other, I don't want you to be the only one doing that and taking on more than your share of responsibility.
Concerned that if its only Brian cleaning, that folks will take the cleanliness for granted.
Mark: let's create a thread in the facilities discord channel about Ridwell usage
Trash & Cleaning Details: Brian plans to: 2 Days a week in the early morning hours 1a: Both bathrooms, kitchen & sweep the 1st & 2nd floor 2b: Organizing will continue gradually on the 2nd floor

From/Raised by: Julius Seeking: discussion On topic: Guilds - how do we make them appealing?
Julius: Perks/ Incentives for joining and contributing to guilds? If we had more storage and a more formalized storage system. Maybe, for instance: "if you join a guild, you could get a "block" of storage"?
How to make guilds better? Make them so you get something out of it.
challenge coins - please look at proposed guilds documentation I'd written up years ago on the wiki.
Need to: Formalize what gets passed on during leadership transfer and how?
