Excellence[edit | edit source]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (On first Tuesdays, seek a few definitions. Other Tuesday, give a 1-3 sentence summary.)

AJ - it comes from Bill and Ted, right? Yes.

I believe it is something good, positive, or otherwise, nifty.

We often use it here as a word of encouragement at NB. Affirmation that something is good on its own terms.

What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit | edit source]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) TWO MINUTES MAX More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.

Brief Kudos[edit | edit source]

Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.

Ken, for continued work on the wood shop wall.

To JD and Wife (honorary NBer) for the compliance work!

To Mona, who is working on joining as a Member. Already a good excellent part of a guild, helping a lot.

To Noah for a great class yesterday, combining sewing and electronics!

To John for being excellent and calm in receiving a leave ask that was previously consensed.

New Members/Associate Members[edit | edit source]

What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.

-Associate Members-

---Mona - Applying again. Mark rescinds block from last week.

---Angela (anni3hilation) - has friends who are Members. names a few people. Loren sponsoring Angela tonighgt.

Whatr kinds of stuff do you hack on? Electronics stuff! Teach it at the crucible. Do electronics stuff for escaoe rooms. Do 3D printing. and Laser cutting, etc etc

Do you want to teach anything?

I miss the old electronics hacking class. Did it previously with Mitch. (Group recommends to talk with Noah/Julius)

Mark expresses concern about questions regarding stewardship of the space for someone we don't know all that well and whether they are aware of potential responsibilities of Membership. But does not block.

---AJ - doesn't have a sponsor yet. Will ask around and will seek on and return next week.

Financial Report (first Tuesday of month only)[edit | edit source]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

  • Monthly revenue, expenses. Big projects. Big fundraising events. Reserves in bank.
  • Any other details by those participating in handling our financials
  • The latest financial reports from the treasurer are available at https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Finances

Spending Needs[edit | edit source]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]

How's it all going

Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items

(discussion item) 1: Winter Solstice Fundraiser[edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Elle Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: a mini fundraiser in saturday the 21st.

Was thinking o it something originally coming out of the sewing guild. A "light up the night" party with ppl wearing light-up clothes to get as much light as possible in the vicinity for the darkest day of the year!

Wind is a bit out of my sails at the moment. Not sure how much I can organize...

Ask:

   A) Can we use the hackitorium that day for this?
   B) Contribute for us to have drinks?
   C) Approval for a silent auction

Do we have items for the auction?

Elle: Some of the items I was planning on having for that seem to be stolen! Maybe. Doesn't necessarily mean we couldn't get things together for the auction...we do still have some stuff from the last one we did. Having done one once, we could do it again more easily in theory.

J: Are you able to pull this off?

Elle: I want help from people who helped with the Quinceanera... if they aren't available, i'll need someone else to definitely hop in to co-host. Will definitely need assistance either way.

J I'm busy unfortunately on the 21st.

How much work is set-up?

Elle: Not TOO much - just gotta clear space for dance floor. Want to find a DJ for music.

Mark advises getting a crew together and announcing *something* (a get-together, a more formal fundraiser) by this Saturday, and otherwise, don't do it.

(discussion item) 2: New Member Happy Hour[edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: AJ, Loren, Elle Seeking: actionable advice On topic: Actionable (1-step) suggestions for improving new member onboarding

Loren will host next week after the meeting.

Elle potentially will host January 3rd (Friday)
