JD - as long as we are clearly not taking any political stances as an organization.

Judy - yup, the event flyer says as much.

2. JD THERE IS A NEW FRONT DOOR! Needs a bit more extra protocols surrounding it... not sure status of Olympus (SHED) integration. Needs to be hooked up to the new ADA button for sure.

Excellence[edit | edit source]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (On first Tuesdays, seek a few definitions. Other Tuesday, give a 1-3 sentence summary.)

Omelia: Treat everybody as if they are GOD.

Elle: It is supporting others the way you want to be supported, and being able to reach out to others for support when needed.

Be kind, be nice, don't be a meanie.

What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit | edit source]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) TWO MINUTES MAX More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.

Bob - I've been a mediator with Community Boards, a free mediation service. Suggests we look it up...

Brief Kudos[edit | edit source]

Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.

JD, for pushing through the ADA door!

Ken and to Nick for painting the sewing room floor. I was pissed at the time I found it painted, but its nice.

Sergio for continued cleaning of the woodshop

Brian for mopping the floor in electronics room, and for everyone else who has been maintaining that room! Brian for taking care of other rooms too, like the music room!

Noah, for revamping CHM! He purchased a lot of items for the class, puts a lot of himself into it!

Zoning & Permitting Standing Item[edit | edit source]

Status this week? Helpful broad asks to the community? NB city bureaucracy WG -- JD & Alice, among others.

Read aloud in meeting, or variant: "Noisebridge is under threat by San Francisco bureaucracy. The exact nature of that threat has not been fully determined, but discussions with the city are ongoing, and lobbying may become necessary. If anyone who is attending the meeting this week has a close connection to Jackie Fielder or other officials, please speak now so that we can connect you to the working group."

Elle: SF beauracracy is ignorant of how great we are. What we need is folks who are willing to be present and polite and well-presenting, and frnakly, just themselves, in meetings with beuracrats and elected officials. We need to show em why they should be supporting us!

JD: Still waiting on Corey over at zoning in making a determinations as to whether we are a clubhouse or a workshop. Until then , we hold tight. We are drafting a letter to our city supervisor right now.

Guilds[edit | edit source]

  • What are guilds - briefly describe (much like the previous section on "Excellence")

Guild is just a common interest of a subsection of noisebridge. E.G. we have a music room and people interested in it - therefore, we have a music guild! We have gaming, sewing, woodshop, 3d printing, [insert your guild here] We like to entrust people who do active work here with access and ownership over their relevant resources.

New Members/Associate member[edit | edit source]

What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.

Associate Members

Narcisse - interested in applying

Lucy - interested in applying

Big M

Daniel in 3rd Week

Elle in second week

Side note: Wanting to host Friday the 28th happy hour for new members. not too late. Sycamore possible location. start at noisebridge.

Financial Report (first Tuesday of month only)[edit | edit source]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

  • Monthly revenue, expenses. Big projects. Big fundraising events. Reserves in bank.
  • Any other details by those participating in handling our financials
  • The latest financial reports from the treasurer are available at https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Finances

Spending Needs[edit | edit source]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]

How's it all going

Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items

Consensus Items [edit | edit source]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

Consensus Item: 2 member block (excepting membership application)[edit | edit source]

proposed by Loren2 member block -- for only freeform motions -- temporary 3 month effect, renewRenewing May 23rd, 2023 Consensus Item
REVIEW AGAIN on Feb 18, 2025
Updating blocking requirement for big C consensus items from 1 to 2 people. Currently in order to block a big C consensus Item, we need only 1 member to block. Would like to update this number to 2 members. Perhaps the 1 member to block made sense when the community was tiny. It doesn't make sense anymore in our much larger community. If you cant convince anyone else to block with you, then maybe you just have bad ideas. The community should not have to make changes only folks with bad ideas think are good.
This change would be provisional for 3 months [from May 23, 2023]. Also would only apply for member proposed consensus items, non-member proposed consensus items would still be block able by a single member. Also only 1 member would be required to block new membership. Also if any one member would like to block, but cannot because they are alone, they can request a 1 week hold to defer decision for an additional 3rd week.

Discussion Items[edit | edit source]

Template... [num]: [topic-short][edit | edit source]

(discussion item) 1: [topic][edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: JD Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: wooodshop wall built enough to reopen the Woodshop

Wheezy - I don't think its built enough to re-open - its not even a wall!

JD - We halted work on construction because we took the city at the word that something something would be done in 30 days. but now people are saying its a hope, not any sort of gaurantee and the city will take however long it wants.

The current idea is to put up a sort of proto-wall in the meantime, with the studs exposed for inspection, whenever that eventually happens.

Elle - I have concern about woodshop and other things that aren't available rn, like the CNC machines, for example. They were moved out of the way, and their former spot is now occupied by 3D printers? Do we need to move this stuff? Does it even work? Maybe need to find out and work on that during Friday/Saturday cleanup.

Other Q: Does having people in the shop when the wall's incomplete create any liability for us?

Loren: Proposal, for clarification - want to put inner wall studs up, sheet rock the inside wall

Bob - seems it could be provisionally open by just sealing it off with plastic

Wheezy - had it for years here, functionally working without a wall. The closed shop signs are up mostly just because we are trying to build a wall. So people don't get in the way of that process. Are we taking the "closed" signs down? Lets just have clear communication.

Elle: my concern is that the current condition is the floor is occupied by a lg pile of wood. Not safe. Plus, the city is already looking at us weirdly. What if an inspector happens to come over some random day?

JD: to be clear: we are going to be using up most of that stack of lumber to get the proto-wall finished so it can be re-opened. So that is when the "closed" signs will come down.

Loren: Opening the shop should make sure it gets cleaned up and the floor cleared real quick anyway.

Jameson: looked up. NOV, and offers help -- he's recent experience. NOV 2024-01-28

(discussion item) 2: [topic][edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Mark Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic:Board Election

Nomination Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Jq6qY6kfTdoJQvmBOc1b8bBYcgQS7kz18b2ov9UZuVk/edit?pli=1#responses

ONE MORE WEEK TO NOMINATE THEN VOTING WILL HAPPEN

(discussion item) 3: [topic][edit | edit source]

From/Raised by: Mark Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: Draft Consensus Item - guild refusal rights

Loren - Practical solutions. I feel like proclamations at the meeting that other ppl should follow what someone once said here (and in the consensus wiki page) and hollow if not adhered to by the whole community. We shouldnt get in the habit of encouraging people to say things that aren't well-supported.

Elle - in rejecting the incidental donation, i felt compelled to have to do extra work for said donation item in question.

I think it needs to be said that Guilds have a right to say NO to the things being offered to them. It would give cover to the people who have to deal with "aggressive donors", which we do have.

Loren - I think it would be helpful for us to have language specifying that NB isn't a dumping ground.

Elle - I see this as a codification of a general principle that applies across guilds and just needs visible expression. Just an opportunity for guilds to feel empowered to say "no".

Loren - Going to draft more language and make available in a gDoc for commentary and editing. Like what things I am proposing.

Discussion Item 4: Lucy wants to build a Microwave Furnace for Noisebridge! Has a bunch of the stuff for it already and is putting together a training plan for use. Whole buildout of device and system should take 2-3 months.

Mark - want to ensure it is tinker-proof. Also, would be cool to see examples of kinds of stuff it can make to inspire NBers!

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
