Short announcements and events[edit | edit source]
- Heather: Brief PSA. The toilet upstairs, the flush/refill thing is flaky. So it is continually refilling might need to fiddle with it.
- Judy: Every year the writer's workshop has done a fundraiser for Noiserbdige. We do it because it's fun and we like to do it. We tend to rais $500-$1,000 in a night. This year I propose we collaborate with hackers here. This year the event is called literary devices. We have 5 writers share a story, poem, non-fiction narrative. We had those stories to our neighborhood hackers to create some device even tangentially related to that story. A reward is available to the hacker that makes the best device. Weekend of Jun 12th (Fri) or 13th (Sat). Don't see anything on those dates yet. What do you think about collaborating? Naomi: I love it. Judy: I was inspired by the stupid hackathon.
- Joseph: This Saturday we have a fashion show. It's based on Senegalese design. Come through and support. We have a lot more coming after this. This is not held at Noisebridge. This is held at the African American Arts and Culture Complext. 7:30pm. There is an enterence fee of... unknown amount.

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.
Loren are you there? Its me noisebridge.
Elan: we might need a plumber -- that toilet upstairs
Loren: $100 to fix the toilet, yes, just do it.
Daniel: We can always use more donations *rubs hands together*
in 3 to 7 minutes there will be the financial report
[Loren makes strained faces at his laptop as 10 minutes tick by. Jet improvises new discussion topics. it kinda works.]
Loren:
March income: $16349
March outgoing: 13833 + ???

Spending Needs[edit | edit source]
Fundraising Update[edit | edit source]
Consensus Items[edit | edit source]
Loren:
1. update the principle address to 272 Capp St in the bylaws
Resolved, that the bylaws of Noisebridge be amended to update Article 2 to reflect the current principal office address of 272 Capp Street, San Francisco, CA 94110 (since 2020), removing the former 83 C Weise Street address and blank placeholder lines, and adding the mailing address of 2261 Market Street #235-A, San Francisco, CA 94114. https://github.com/mcint/nb-bylaws/pull/1/changes
The "source of truth" has to be bylaws, not the wiki, for legal purposes.
2. replace mail with email, physical posting, and chat channels
Resolved, that the bylaws of Noisebridge be amended to modernize notice provisions in Articles 6 and 7, replacing requirements for first-class mail, registered mail, and facsimile with notice by (1) email to members at their address on file, (2) physical posting in the space at a standard notice-board location, and (3) posting in the corporation's standard communication chat channels in widest use; and further that "Affidavit of Mailing Notice" be renamed to "Affidavit of Giving Notice" to reflect these updated methods; all existing timing requirements to remain unchanged. https://github.com/mcint/nb-bylaws/pull/2/changes
Elan: have we ever collected addresses from members?
Naomi: that has NEVER been a thing we've ever really done.
Elan: like maybe... at the very earliest times?
Naomi: [shakes head with 17 years of membership, leaving room for idea that maybe 2007-8 was different, but...]
Elan: ok so this was probably boilerplate copied from something else
Naomi: very likely yes.
Discussion Items[edit | edit source]
- Chairs
- Elections
- Jane Event
1: Board Elections[edit | edit source]
| On topic | Board Elections |
|---|---|
| From/Raised by | Elan |
| Seeking | decision/outcome/advice/[?] |
Elan: Voting is now live. To vote it was mentioned that ppl come to the space and get a token. I have those tokens. This has been described by ppl as "overly complicated" but not by anyone voting. [uhhh -naomi] I have this whole app or spreadsheet thing (showing it). allows total anonymity, it's complicated. If you're a Core Member you should come get a token.
Jet: You can only vote if you're a Core Member. but you could proxy block on someone's suggestion!
Elan: it's considered excellent to consider your community when putting in your ballot.
2: Chairs!!!!111one[edit | edit source]
| On topic | Chairs!!!!111one |
|---|---|
| From/Raised by | Alex, Naomi |
| Seeking | decision/outcome/advice/[?] |
LX: We used to have a bunch of pretty good or various condition chairs. then chairpocalypse happened and now they are gone. upstairs migration of chairs but the heat is coming. downstairs needs comfortable chairs too. problematic for people with accessibility issues. non-rolling chairs is an obstacle if you are disabled. understand theres a storage problem with rolling chairs but it is solveable.
Lighter stacking chairs idea proposed. Heavy chairs are not accessible for many people.
Elon: other storage spaces available. could put castors on chairs.
julius: there are actually more chairs in the *dark corner* but no one can get in there.
LX: chairs should probably stay out... but should have a mix of both kinds of chairs...
whole bunch of chairs on craigslist and i have a van.... if anyone needs a tall chair theres one in the drafting area... will start contributing to chairs.
Should we get rid of some of the chairs we have?
Jet: could we just buy a bunch of plastic chairs...
LX: we could replace all the chairs with rolling stackable chairs for like $500.
Seems that there might be rolling chairs upstairs and there is agreement we should move some back down. Chair hunt proposed.
LX: there were garbage cans in front of the gate door posing another accessiblity obstacle
sounds like its the neighbors doing.
gate would have to be completely rebuilt to be up to code
3: Afterlight Echo[edit | edit source]
| On topic | Afterlight Echo |
|---|---|
| From/Raised by | Jane |
| Seeking | decision/outcome/advice/[?] |
Jane: May 9th. Ghettotranny is Marcelline.
Jane: I'm having play out, DJ sets, visuals on the screens, showcasing folks' graphic identities.
Alex: YESSS VISUALS!
Jane: that's the whole thing, showcasing cool stuff + ppl playing + dancing.
Jane: 930pm to 230am. 49 people or so we think
Jet: final notes?
Jane: showcasing! fun! that's it!
Alex: why i got excited was Jane's party needs NB to be cool and we want to make the downstairs cool. so our visuals, audio, set up a new VJ booth. i started project boards on Discord for this. Please jump in!
4: Dragon Art[edit | edit source]
| On topic | Dragon Art |
|---|---|
| From/Raised by | Elan |
| Seeking | decision/outcome/advice/[?] |
Dragons!!!!
They're pretty, they're bright, they're neon.
These are giant burning man installation art that we are going to get.
Julius: Saturday we're going to install these things. We're also going to evict all the stuff in Limbolandia then. So come help.
Jet: where is the drumset? we need to be on the look out (bolo) for a drumset.
LX: Do we have a way to keep list of bolo items? ["Be on the lookout"]
Naomi: Not really. This comes up. Would be nice if there was a checkin checkout thing.
LX: *holds up phone and shows app that helps with tracking things*
Loren: it would be helpful to have some kind log of... something to do with the drums [michael is trying but conversation is swift and unmoderated at this pt]
Naomi: yeah Music Guild has been talking about that for the past few months, at least just getting some sort of sign-out mechanism in place to help with the "wtf happened to the drums again" problem. not the first time.
LX: so yeah we can potentially use the thing i'm building to help with that.
Naomi: Karaoke bridge!! We wanna do it again!
Jet: Naomi is a great singer. [awww stop <3 --nthmost]
LX: Karaoke in the music room everyday? Plan to make this happen.
Do-ocratic Task Board[edit | edit source]
Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
