Wide ranging unstructured discussion of hosting, some talk of cryptocurrencies. Mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu and student resources hosting. Stupid hacks hackathon hosted by Squirrel at ASUC. Finally, re-introduce Polis.

Welcome[edit | edit source]

Opening stories -- It's Veteran's Day. Wars are won by logistics, which is just dynamic infrastructure.

How do we prepare, to support what we care about, personally, for our companies, friends, country, or humanity.

Nix -- around since 2004, but took time to grow, build steam.

Plan9 -- didn't take off on its own, pioneed lots of ideas elsewhere.

Bind mounts ATT monopoly -- and its limits.

Introductions[edit | edit source]

  • [name] - [background]. [goals for meetup, or interests to explore]
  • Loren - hosting infrastructure, enjoying continuing the OCF tradition of discussing infrastructure. Today: getting a VM up in the spae for
  • Greg - programmer, happy to chat about whatever, Favorite color: deep sapphire blue
  • Verda - background software and mechatronics, talk about bitcoin
  • Doug - also want to talk about bitcoin, first bought some in a parking lot in Nicaragua, happy to talk about anything interesting. Infrastructure sheep. Favorite color orange
  • Wolf - he/him - various bits of infrastructure run on my own, have been figuring out how to run tailscale on an IPv6 address in a container.
  • Noah -- (hosting Circuit Hacking mondays) -- programmer. I copy-paste terraform blindly.
  • Kevin -- seem to be a collector of bits & hardware. Figuring out what to do with my life, hope you all have advice, just in time.
  • Ethan, from UC Berkeley, involved in OCF (nominally), CSUA, and stupid hackathon stuff. Led CSUA hdd recovery recently. RAID array crashed in 2014, recovered most of it.
