Excellence[edit | edit source]
Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (Give a quick, 1-3 sentence summary.)
- Be kind.
- Don't be a d*ck
- Treat this place, better than like your home. Like it's your mom's home (and you like her).
- Leave cool things that inspire future visitors to NB
- Clean up 120%
What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!
Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit | edit source]
Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.
Brief Kudos[edit | edit source]
Recent examples of excellent participation, say 3, unless the passion moves you.
- To Elizabeth & Mary, for stepping in really quick (teaching) last week
- To Miko, for the knife class
- To Daniel, for giving a tour to swedish folks. Won't bring the kids back, but will return himself.
- To Daniel, for helping with 3d printing work. Great new bridge
- To CoreyFro, for offering to do Limbolandia dump run with their truck
- To Jameson, for getting great filteration system for the woodshop. Helps a lot, circulates a lot. Complete air volume at 7 minutes.
- Kudos to WE-Z for losing a bet and as a result making a large donation to Noisebridge in return.
Big C Consensus Items[edit | edit source]
Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items
Consensus Items [edit | edit source]
Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item or can be reserved for the discussion section of the meeting.
Consensus Item: Right to refuse[edit | edit source]
"Right to refuse donations":
We have existing norms about the excellence of donations (when, how, how much), in the interest of preventing unwanted dumping, and unmaintainable contributions.
"so let us ...? "[https://media.tenor.com/VXQU_KSpO4EAAAAM/obama-clear.gif To make abundantly clear that donations to Noisebridge are welcome but subject to acceptance.
It is un-excellent to dump or force donations upon Noisebridge. Acceptance of donations is by consensus, in that, members may accept a donation on behalf of the organization unless another member objects. In which case, small c consensus must be reached before an item is accepted. Large items (larger than, say, a microwave) and items that may pose a physical danger to those on site must be accepted before being brought to Noisebridge. Unaccepted items, dumped items and items left on Noisebridge premises through any other un-excellent means, may be disposed of by Noisebridge with or without notice to the donor."
Discussion Items[edit | edit source]
It is recommended to post items for discussion ahead of time at https://pad.riseup.net/p/nbmeeting. (Check that the template for the meeting is in place already, and that last week's notes have been moved to the wiki, of course)
Item prompts should follow the format: From/Raised by: [your name here] Seeking [decision/outcome/advice/something else] On topic: [topic]
Discussion Item: coworking area improvements[edit | edit source]
From/Raised by: chris Seeking temp check? budget? On topic: coworking area improvements, want to make. Lantern, LEDs, tables, comfy seating/chairs.
1. Want a more pleasant and warm environment upstairs.
2. Want to discuss area where DTG printer currently resides and whether it could be potentially relocated
3. Would like a small budget of maybe a couple hundred bucks
Meeting loves the lights.
Many people raise concerns about lounge chairs displacing tools. Social hangout use distracts, conflicts with tools use, building, making.
Chris offers that lounge space might let the rest of the space serve its own purpose.
We-z all lounge space. DTG printer might be better somewhere else.
- Lighting agreement? No -- no to mood lighting. Yes to task lighting.
- Too Lounge-y -- becomes a safety issue. More people hanging out. Turns certain people away.
- Chris offers, more loungey space attractive to membership.
- Josh -- 2 thoughts. Downstairs video game area. Out in open, close to entrance, not nested deeply like, e.g. music room.
- Daniel A -- see both sides: 1) don't want people sleeping 2) really hate flourescent lighting 3) downstairs not used, too cold. 4)
- loren -- benches. "perches" / leaning. stools, light folding chairs
- JD - we have some lounge chairs downstairs we can try.
- daniel irl - we can improve lights
- elan - re: concern about sleeping places. Address with bringing back "mute mary" poppins, after closing, beeping.
- we-z - please use wording everyone can get along with
- Question: Isn't our zoning based on us being a workshop and not a social lounge?
- JD, inspector (CoreyT) -- determined that the space is a workshop, appropraite for light industral zoning
- mark - wanted to suggest being last on tonight's stack. want to assemble comments online.
- loren -- let's jit.si
- elle - would be faster and more effective to improve NB by just cleaning the space.
- loren -- need a project day soon
Discussion Item: the fence[edit | edit source]
From/Raised by: elle Seeking --- discuss, improve On topic: the fence -- the structure, concern.
Fundraising committee will be talking soon about this. But we've been talking about a grant thats opening real soon from the city, for exterior improvements that are already in process. We need evidence for them that weve already moved forward on the project.
Two things we want improved: the fence, and the awning.
Should we be talking to a fence contractor at this time?
Loren: not sure if fence improvement is needed for zoning yet?
JD: nothing official yet, but we were forewarned by someone who came to inspect the shop wall.
Maybe I should just broach the subject with Michael Steiner the architect who was working on other stuff for us...
Main concern: needs to be able to withstand wind loads.
May need an engineer.
Timeline on grant? Not sure, not released yet, as of a few days ago, week and a half ago. Checking again.
We need to be in process, have pulled a permit. Or perhaps just applied for. Need to find out which. And what the deadline for grant application is. Bureaucracy task force, and fundraising meeting.
Discussion Item: growbridge[edit | edit source]
From/Raised by: Daniel Seeking temp check On topic: grow bridge: growing plants of all storts.
We could have a general hydroponics system. Temp check -- when cannibis is federally legal?
Loren: Could grow in front yard, against the wall (can't attach to), but concrete fence post. Elan: similar idea, terrace at the same spot.
might just be planters then, not hydroponics.
farley: fish hydroponics or GTFO. aquaponics
Discussion Item: digital art workshop[edit | edit source]
From/Raised by: Tin (david) Seeking temp check On topic: digital art workshop
Who's interested? -- (at least)
David (online) Mark
Generalist? or focus on animation? sculpture?
David -- have run gamebridge in the past. (Mark: come to gamebridge on wednesdays!) David is busy wednesdays :(
Elle - embroidery machine art? or DTG printer for shirts. Inkscape works for all. Amenable to teaching as well?
- Tin: vector art -- just outside my expertise. I know ToonBoom Studio, or other vector...3d.
- David says: yes it can be done.
Cloud: tin & david, fyi, you are both in the gamebridge [discord server?] community already. Tin: I've been, it was all code. Seeking art-focused. @Tin on discord.
JD: real need for classes for vector based graphics stuff. Laser, embroidery, general drafting, CAD stuff. Vinyl cutter.
Loren -- NB logos. Shirts, embroidery, vinyl. trinkets commemerative to celebrate
David: best day?
Tin: might join -- same night, different room (mostly) as gamebridge.
Loren: could host once a month. Vector graphics, multimedia.
Tin: my skills really focused on asset production for games.
Discussion Item: workshop-workshop[edit | edit source]
From/Raised by: elle Seeking temp check, guage interest. On topic: workshop on workshops
Pitch is: what if we had a separate event, for people who didn't know they're ready to host a workshop.
elle: pixel art workshop. example, someone seemed nearly ready to, but weren't ready to follow through when suggested, offered.
