"how to keep projects from sucking up more and more hours"
Hardware projects[edit | edit source]
Use standard pieces and components.
Competing pulls to
- design in-place
- make easy to modify
- make/build/use standard interconnection components. I'm bullish on (ab)using ethernet for low-voltage analog signals.
- design with final constraints in mind, and visible.
Tricks we're trying[edit | edit source]
- Ethernet cables for modularity. Making long runs of analog wires with existing bundles, easy snapping together - and well defined termination points with standard connectors.
Tools[edit | edit source]
- https://fritzing.org/ $10 diagramming for pi/hobbyist wiring projects. loose-wires
- KiCad - PCB design
- Excalidraw - diagramming
- Logisim "evoluation' - circuit diagramming, and interactive simulation of models.
