"how to keep projects from sucking up more and more hours"

Hardware projects[edit | edit source]

Use standard pieces and components.

Competing pulls to

  • design in-place
  • make easy to modify
  • make/build/use standard interconnection components. I'm bullish on (ab)using ethernet for low-voltage analog signals.
  • design with final constraints in mind, and visible.

Tricks we're trying[edit | edit source]

  • Ethernet cables for modularity. Making long runs of analog wires with existing bundles, easy snapping together - and well defined termination points with standard connectors.
