The WikiWG (see also WGs) helps maintain the wiki & other Documentation. As with all aspects of Noisebridge, identification with the group signals some level of interest in seeing the wiki, signage, etc in good condition, and some level of knowledge or willingness to learn, most often to teach yourself, how to create the things you want to see.
Lesson Plan for one who would Edit[edit | edit source]
Follow Wiki#How_to_start_editing_the_Wiki, it's starts with:
- Wiki#Create account Create a wiki user. Short bio required for the user page.
First, one must know how to mw:edit. Using mw:wikitext, especially mw:Help:Wikitext_examples.
- Search -- especially advanced.
- mw:Help:namespaces -- mw:namespaces
- Special:SpecialPages -- in Sidebar / Tools -- the main, original Special pages reference
- to find templates and categories
- Special:AdminLinks in header, extension-provided, opinionated and grouped special links
- Easiest link to Approve accounts queue
- Special:Version shows version of the wiki, and extensions installed.
Templates, Structure -- convention[edit | edit source]
Everything is convention, some of it strictly encoded, some of it still gradually emerging. Noisebridge header boxes are manually specified, these template:boxes templates are the an enabling convention-based structure of our homegrown stand-in for category boxes, pursuing the structure offered by wp:Wikipedia:Categorization#Category_tree_organization, especially the template boxes that appear on the bottom of many pages, and act as a context-specific index of one or more relevant hierarchies the page's entity can belong to. e.g. wp:Template:Wikipedia_policies_and_guidelines and wp:Template:Wikipedia_categorization_navbox both appear on the categorization page.
